Job description

Lochmueller Group's Water Resources Department is growing, and we are looking for a talented Water Resources Project Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Missouri. This position will focus on the design of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, and drinking water distribution systems. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with substantial experience with process design of facilities.

Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.  We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; Water Resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our Water Resources team is involved in a wide variety of Water Resources Projects for states, municipalities, utilities, regional sewer districts and various private entities.

In this position, the candidate will:
    • Develop project designs in conformance with the latest design standards.
    • May be assigned management of projects and will be given budgetary limitations and staffing to complete the project.  
    • Stay current on available modeling software and utilizes it to efficiently design facilities. Process design modeling software experience such as GPSX is a plus.
    • Develop, read, and interpret schematic and construction plans.
    • Manage the production of drawings in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for projects pertaining to design plans for water treatment/distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems. 
    • Perform design quantity computations and checks for developing opinions of probable construction cost.
    • Understand and work with surveying data provided from survey department.
    • Apply a variety of specification regulations, policies and standards to assure compliance with various Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
    • Work with clients to pursue project funding through available funding agencies while following funding agency practices and policies.
    • Perform business development activities to assist with the growth of our Water Resources service line.
Qualifications for the role:
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
    • 10+ years of process design experience - Experience with facilities having 5 MGD or greater capacity is helpful, but significant experience with smaller facilities will also be considered. 
    • CFD modeling and Hydraulic modeling experience is a plus
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.  
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal, along with the ability to work well individually or as part of a team are essential.
