Job Description
Hire Resolve’s client is a leading Civil Engineering firm that is urgently seeking the expertise of a Water Resources Engineer in Kansas City, KS.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform, review, and train others on one-dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and scour analysis for culvert/bridge replacement projects
- Perform hydraulic modeling related to land development floodplain encroachments
- Participate in the development and design of major and complex projects, evaluate project costs, and develop and recommend special assessments for special projects
- Prepare stormwater reports & flood studies to comply with FEMA permitting requirements
- Contribute to proposals and contracts that require technical flood studies
- Work with government funding agencies
- Attend & conduct client meetings and public hearings
- Work on projects that include site utilities, erosion control, streets, and sewer mains
Requirements
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license from the state of Missouri and/or Kansas
- 7+ years of civil design experience with a hydrology and hydraulic focus
- Certified Floodplain Manager certificate (preferred)
- Experience and knowledge of FEMA requirements for C/LOMR processing
- Technical competence in 1-D hydraulic modeling such as HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRas, and similar
- Experience with hydrologic modeling such as HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoHMS, and similar
- Experience with 2-D modeling such HEC-RAS 2D and similar
- The ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines as well as work independently and within a team environment to support project delivery
- Knowledgeable with current release of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
- Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems
- Self-motivated and customer service oriented
- Solid technical writing skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
