Water Plant/System Operator I

The Town of Essex Department of Public Works Water Department seeks a qualified applicant to fill the position of Plant/Water Systems Operator I. The position requires the ability to perform a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, manual labor on the distribution system and to carry out operational duties in a complex water treatment plant. The applicant will be required to work in all DPW related activities, primarily sewer, when needed. The position requires work on a rotating shift that includes weekends and holidays. Applicants currently holding a T2/D1 Massachusetts Water License are preferred. All prospective applicants for this position must acquire the licenses mentioned above within 2 years of hiring date. The applicant should have a minimum of a high school diploma, with a science related background, some computer skills, and some construction experience. Starting Salary is $29.50 w/pay incentives for water licenses and yearly step increases
