SUMMARY

The Watch Technician Trainee will gain knowledge about the mechanical and operational elements of watches and learn to perform routine maintenance on various watch models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts minor / major repairs.
  • Replaces, repairs, adjusts and reconditions cases, batteries, energy cells and performs replacement of minor components, such as crystals and crowns.
  • Replaces, repairs, and adjusts sizing of bands and band parts, such as pins, links and clasps.
  • Sets all the different movements.
  • Tests water resistance of water-resistant models using special equipment.
  • Cleans watches using ultrasonic cleaner machine, brushes and other means with water and soaps.
  • Reconditions and adjusts watches and their appearance and components.
  • Tests voltage, ohms, power consumption and accuracy of movements using electronic equipment prior to returning the watch to the customer.
  • Updates data of repair performed using computer system to track repair work.
  • Maintains productivity and quality of repair standards requirements.
  • Replaces and repairs quartz movements, including Eco Drive: two and three hands, day and date, and multi-function.
  • Maintain a clean work area and environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or general education degree
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent hand, finger, and eye coordination
  • Ability to use watchmaker’s tools, including but not limited to case opener, presses, vices, screwdrivers, tweezers, pin pushers, eye loupe.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, work rules, and procedures

Excellent eye sight and good hand/eye coordination. Attention to detail is critical.
