$80,171-103,194/yr.

*A State of DE licensed Level I or higher Wastewater Operator may be hired at a higher pay rate.
General Description- The purpose of this position is to perform routine, semi-skilled level work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plants and sludge disposal facilities including their structures, equipment, and grounds in compliance with applicable permit requirements.
This position works under general supervision of higher-level Wastewater Plant Operators, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties and Responsibilities
·Monitors equipment and maintains logbook.
·Takes water samples and flow readings.
·Wastes sludge from the clarifiers.
·Takes "sludge blanket" readings and record in logbook.
·Receives and loads chlorine cylinders.
·Collects dissolved oxygen test samples.
·Cleans still wells and tanks.
·Monitors the telemetry panel and note unusual conditions.
·Changes flow charts.
·Performs general custodial work to keep plant and facilities clean.
·Assists in minor mechanical repairs to mechanical equipment.
·Monitors pumping stations data; in case of problem contacts maintenance personnel to perform corrective actions.
·Operates and cleans concentrators and belt filter presses.
·Participates in preventive maintenance of plant equipment.
·Assists in training of Plant Operator Trainee positions.
·Assists in monitoring all plant processes including sludge pumps, flow and chlorine rates, and solids removal and recycling, and septage receiving facilities to ensure proper operation.
·Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of operations experience in a Wastewater Treatment Plant, or any combination of experience and training.
Special Certifications and License Requirements:
·Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
·Possession and retention of a valid Level I Wastewater Operator license issued by the State of Delaware.
