Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable Warehouse Delivery Truck Driver to transport customer orders from our Newark warehouse to customers' locations in a safe and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent driving record, and a commitment to delivering superior customer service. This role requires attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Safely operate and maintain delivery vans and box trucks, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company safety regulations.
2. Load and unload industrial fasteners and threaded rods onto delivery truck using proper equipment (reach truck, forklift, pallet jacks, etc) and techniques to prevent damage.
3. Plan delivery routes efficiently to minimize travel time and fuel expenses.
4. Verify delivery instructions and ensure accurate documentation of delivered products.
5. Provide friendly and professional customer service during deliveries, addressing any customer inquiries or concerns.
6. Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues to management.
7. Assist with warehouse duties as needed, including assembly, picking, packing, and organizing inventory.
8. Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery truck and warehouse workspace.
9. Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding vehicle operation, safety, and security.
10. Collaborate with warehouse team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
1. Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus) with a clean driving record.
2. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a delivery truck driver, preferably in a warehouse or industrial setting.
3. Familiarity with local roads and routes in the Newark area is a plus.
4. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, ranging from 50 to 75 pounds, and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
8. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
9. Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
10. High school diploma or equivalent.
11. Must be able to pass a drug screening test associated with Dept of Transportation physical.
12. Must be able to pass background check associated with TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
