Warehouse worker/ food rescue driver
Part-time - Paid Hourly- $14.00
Monday – Thursday 8:30 am- 3:00 pm, Friday 8:30am-2:30pm
29.5 hours a week
30 minute lunch break
Description:
- Assist the Supervisor & observe the warehouse operation while performing the following: Daily food vendor pick-ups, minor upkeeping of grounds, keeping the warehouse within safety compliance, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness.
- This position works for the pleasure of the Executive Director and Warehouse & Pantry Supervisor
- Accept other duties as assigned.
Requirement:
- You must be able to lift 60lbs and withstand repetitive lifting, bending, stooping & twisting.
- Must be able to stand on feet for more than 4 hours.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to be out in the elements while rescuing food for the pantry.
- Working fundraisers may be needed
Responsibilities:
- Keep constant communication with a supervisor about the upkeep and workflow of the warehouse and changes in food distribution pickups.
- Co-administrate with supervisor on our volunteers and volunteer programs - AARP, Youth Workforce, Embassy, Community Service workers (court-mandated helper), etc.
· Daily checks of the fridges, walk-ins, and temperatures must be logged.
- Help empty and clean all garbage cans and replace garbage bags, sweep and keep the break room and warehouse tidy and stocked.
- Help with keeping up on cardboard removal.
- Perform necessary duties to keep the warehouse safe and operating according to warehouse guidelines.
· Transporting the rescue food back to the warehouse and putting it away.
· Helping unload semi-trailer of food once a week.
- Schedule times and routes for vendor pickup, be accountable and on time when picking up from all assigned vendors for that day.
- Assist with furniture pickup or curbside pickup for Open Doors Thrift Shop.
Fleet Maintenance:
- maintenance checks on fleet vehicles monthly.
- Keep track of oil changes and tire rotation. Be sure all fluids are filled and gas is at a good level. (This position is just required to check these things and get any concerns to their supervisor)
Monthly:
- Check filters for furnace and dump water down drains. Turn in maintenance checklist on vehicles.
Qualifications:
- GED or High School Diploma
- Experience working in a warehouse
- Knowledge of driving a Box Truck and use of a pallet jack is a plus.
