Position Type: Part Time
Pay Range: $12.00 - $14.19/hour.
About this opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Area Commanders, the Warehouse Worker is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of donations given to The Salvation Army during the Christmas season. The Warehouse Worker will assist with loading, unloading, and sorting donations; moving donations and other materials into the warehouse; assist in the setup, clean up and break down of the warehouse. He/she may also act in the capacity of a Truck Driver as needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Receive, store, and distribute donations.
- Provide good oral communication with vendors, volunteers, staff, and management.
- Gives general supervision to volunteers, as needed.
- Daily loading and unloading and placement of donated items into the warehouse.
- Safe operation of The Salvation Army vehicles while picking up and delivering donations/goods.
- Assist with can food drives, coat drives, toy drives and moving operations.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
- Two years’ experience working in receiving, storing, loading and unloading of materials; OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The working environment is a warehouse with a cement floor where a majority of the day is spent. Temperatures in the warehouse and dock area may, at times, be very cold, depending on the varying weather and temperatures during the season. Temperatures vary from approximately 30 degrees to below 0 in the winter. Position involves going in and out of the warehouse space into the cold throughout the day.
