A. Definition
1. Under the supervision of the Food Service Director and Field Supervisor, the warehouse worker-drivers are responsible for loading and unloading food and supplies; delivering to designated schools; filling order; maintaining sanitation standards; and rotating stock at the Food Service Warehouse.
B. Minimum Requirements
1. Any combination of education and experience equal to high school graduation and one year of experience in operating a vehicle; compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, Form 1-9 (03/20/87).
2. Ability to read, write, complete basic math and follow oral and written directions in English.
3. Good driving record.
4. Physical ability to lift 50-pound cases, over 50-pounds with assistance, and work in a -5°F freezer for extended periods of time. Must be able to walk, use both arms and hands, walk up and down stairs and stand for 7.5 hours on their shift. The ability to perform labor is clearly a job requirement.
5. Ability to operate stand-up forklift, pallet jack and other handling equipment.
C. Responsibilities
1. Operate 12 to 24-foot delivery truck and stand-up forklift handling equipment and complete daily vehicle check.
2. Load and verify school orders; make deliveries on assigned route; and return completed delivery tickets to Food Service Office and other offices as required.
3. Fill orders (Food, supplies, books etc.), unload vendor trucks and rotate stock.
4. Considerable time is spent in freezer and refrigerator areas and wearing provided freezer suit is required;
5. Complete scheduled sanitation and safety assignments; wash, sanitize, and clean vehicle on a regular scheduled basis.
6. Drive assigned vehicle in a safe manner; have it serviced and delivered for scheduled maintenance and safety inspections.
7. Report accidents immediately, completing forms as follows:
Procedure for Accident Reporting (Report SP 75).
Initial Food Service Vehicle Accident Notification.
8. Deliver food and supplies to special programs winter, spring, and summer school vacations.
9. Performs related duties as assigned.
10. Attend scheduled staff meetings.
11. Perform related duties as required by Office of Food and Nutrition Services.
