Summary

This position is responsible for leading the activities on an assigned shift to ensure the proper handling, storing, shipping, receiving, tracking and location of all finished and bulk product quality products and supplies that meet customer’s expectations. In addition the Warehouse Team Leader will work closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure the shipping and receiving of quality finished and bulk products is handled efficiently and effectively. 

Under limited supervision, the individual in this position will lead and direct the activities of up to five (5) team members in meeting the shift goals in the storage and shipping of products which includes loading trucks and railcars; receiving supplies, storing products and supplies, monitoring restricted inventories, maintaining accurate inventory counts and documentation for needed record keeping. This position will also communicate Warehouse practices and procedures to assure customer satisfaction. This individual will be responsible to see the shift is running smoothly and complete assigned tasks. 

The individual in this position will be required to be knowledgeable of each position and capable of performing the work when a problem arises for his/her assistance and/or direction. The Warehouse Team Leader must fully understand the purpose and operation of the Shipping area and must have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates it. It is imperative the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. 

This individual in this position must establish and maintain open communication and a productive working relationship with the Q.A. team members, Maintenance Team, other shift support personnel, and the Shift Manager. The Team Leader must also establish and maintain effective relationships with each team member to provide direction and feedback.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
  • Ensures that attendance and participation in training activities are appropriate for the position, and applies the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
  • Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck and successfully pass and maintain certification requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with both WAC 296-24-230 and WAC 296-24-23025.
  • Must be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements. This training and requirements are in accordance with WAC 296-115-245 & 247 and WAC 296-24-75005.
  • Under limited supervision, provide direction, communication, and coordination of daily Shipping and Warehouse employees in order to maintain the highest level of food safety and customer service.
  • Work closely with Packaging and Quality Assurance personnel on held and rework transactions.
  • Accurately monitor the movement of case product and bulk bins, both incoming and outgoing, from Packaging and daily shipments.
  • Ensures the Warehouse freezers and dock area are maintained in a neat and sanitary condition and all assignments are completed and documented in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures all electronic and manual paperwork, documents, and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Must be able to perform all Warehouse activities required of a C/S Lift Truck operator.
  • Ensures that shipping area is properly staffed.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Union Labor Agreement.
  • Ensures that the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a professional management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues and ensuring that appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the company.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and divisional standards.
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
  • 1+ years related experience and/or training
  • Prior Leadership experience strongly preferred.

Must be currently qualified as a C/S Lift Truck Operator for a minimum of six months, or must have a minimum of 6 months of continuous forklift experience in the last three years

Other Information
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate, in English, in a manner to successfully perform the job duties.
  • Must be able to perform math functions accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).
  • Must be able to tell time.
  • Must have basic computer skills (turn computer on/off, open, save and retrieve a document, written communication via email and/or other reports). Able to retrieve and process data from Warehouse Management System.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
  • Must meet the standards on Fall Restraints as stated in WAC 296-155-24510 Fall Restraint, Fall Arrest Systems.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperature and wet and slick floors.
  • Must have manual dexterity in both hands.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in a safe and proper manner.
  • Must be able to climb stairs or ladders.
