Job Summary:
The Wholesale Shipping Assistant will be responsible is to ensure all wholesale orders are processed and shipped on a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Scan boxes and process shipping documents for wholesale customers (majors and specialty stores)
- Prepare small package carrier (UPS and FedEx) labels for outbound shipments
- Schedule pick-up with LTL trucker for outbound shipment going to major retailers (Saks, Neiman, etc.)
- Ship confirm orders in the warehouse management system
- Seal and palletize completed orders for hand-off to small carrier pick-up
- Keep an open dialogue with the Operation Manager on any issues that might arise
Desired Background:
- Minimum High School diploma (or equivalent)
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Experience in fashion industry a plus
Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in the garment industry
- Warehouse work experience preferred
Skills:
- Strong communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and proactive
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in Blue Cherry a plus
- Knowledge and experience with UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager
- Must be flexible (hours outside of normal working hours) and able to act independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Since this position requires the handling of merchandise there will be physical work. Physical functions will include:
- Must be able to push and pull rolling racks with weights up to 200 pounds
- Requires ability to lift up to 40 pounds at a time
- Frequent bending, pushing, pulling and lifting, twisting and reaching
- Ability to hold and grip garments
- Ascending/descending from a rolling ladder to hang/remove garments
- Must be able to stand and walk about the warehouse throughout scheduled shifts; up to 8 hours
- Scanning of up to 250-300 pieces using handheld scanner
- Required language is English
- Candidate must be able to communicate both verbal and written in English
Base Pay Range:
The base pay range for this position in New York City is $15.00 - $20.00 hourly; base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, and location.
