Komyo America has an opportunity to join our organization in the role of Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, located in Loudon, TN. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this position will provide a high level of EHS services to multiple locations. It is critical that the candidate be capable of creating and fostering strong work relationships within and out of the organization and a positive work environment.

Job Summary

Performs diversified environmental health and safety and administrative functions to instill a safety sensitive culture to promote and create a safe working environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain a customer service focus, ensuring and protecting our customer’s best interest
  • Support business plan goals: develop and monitor tasks to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Lead, implement, and prepare department/facilities for operational change points.
  • Provide safety leadership to the facilities by developing and installing programs designed to achieve zero injuries and improve the safety culture.
  • Champion initiatives that identify facility risk, prioritize risk reduction measures, and drive closure of recommendations to reduce the identified risks.
  • Strong decision-making skills with bias for action balanced with consensus building abilities.
  • Experience in safety incident classification, investigation procedures, root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Familiar with warehousing processes in order to drive safety within those environments.
  • Solve problems and resolve issues and concerns that impact operational performance.
  • Maintain all OSHA regulatory and compliance requirements of the company.
  • Assist in the safety evaluation of new projects; evaluate and recommend actions to improve safety performance and to reduce risk. Participate in any process safety reviews conducted on site operations.
  • Must be able to develop/conduct training for both technical / management and operator level.
  • Assist in managing the daily / weekly / monthly Safety and Environmental metrics and reporting.
  • Drive improvement in behavior-based observation systems and culture.
  • Lead facilities emergency response team and all emergency response team activities.
  • Lead facilities safety committee activities.
  • Act as a role model for all associates and adhere to the company core values.
  • Conduct on-site workplace inspections/audits for compliance; ensure immediate resolution of hazards and drive management team for sustained resolutions and results.
  • Design, recommend and administer safety incentive programs to drive
  • Develop and lead Safety communications on lessons learned, best practices, innovative activities.
  • Educate and train employees on E&S standards and processes, source outside resources as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Organizational Contacts

  • Works closely with supervisors and top management.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Supervises Safety Administrators

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse management environment
  • Experience planning and scheduling meetings and appointments and maintain paper/electronic files
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organization and communication skills
  • Certifications CIH, CSP, CQE, CQT preferred
  • Strong PC Skills (Microsoft Office Suite) required
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented required
  • Ability to work on various projects simultaneously
  • Must be flexible to work different hours as needed by the department/business
  • Able to create spreadsheets, compose correspondence, maintain databases, create presentations, etc.
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, inspires by example, unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Strong management skills and ability to handle people under high-stress situations.
  • Strong Leadership skills and capable of creating and fostering a positive work environment
  • Results oriented. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong administrative skills in report research and preparation, paperwork/documentation completion and prioritization.
  • Contributes critical and analytical thinking to work assignments.
  • Experience conducting formal presentations and facilitating training.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and demonstrates a “can-do” approach in responding to requests.
  • Able to work alone in areas of core competence with minimal guidance.
  • Able to follow established practices and procedures in a disciplinedmanner.
  • Punctual, consistent ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Attendance and work schedule flexibility. Able to cover for other shifts when needed.

Physical Demands:

May involve significant standing, walking and sitting. Position requires ability to frequently use hands for reaching and handling and frequently for fine finger manipulation. Frequent talking, hearing and visual acuity to see objects required.
