PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operates coil processing equipment, stores, loads and unloads material via overhead crane, forklift, (track mobile – with skillset) or other material handling equipment; operates scales and packs material for storage, processing and shipment.
We are hiring for multiple shifts. Day, Swing, Night. Shift Differential $0.50 or $0.70 Depending on shift pattern.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Loads and unloads materials from carriers’ equipment. Including Trucks and railcars.
- Operates lift trucks, cranes, conveyors, tilt tables, track, wrapping equipment.
- Track mobile skill set for track mobile operation will be designated for qualified operators and assigned per need on each shift. (please see track mobile skill set instructions)
- Identifies, tags, moves and stages material to be processed, wrapped, tilted, stored and shipped
- Uses tools to interface with computer systems as directed.
- Verifies that material and paperwork match and are correct. Keeps records as required.
- Delivers materials to process lines and equipment as directed. Transports materials to and from process lines, equipment and between warehouses and plant.
- Skids, bands, weighs and packs material prior to shipment as directed with coil processing equipment or by hand.
- Stores and inventories material in designated area.
- Assists in other departments as directed.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Scan material throughout the plant after each movement.
- Keeps equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition and reports equipment handled repair requirements to Supervisor.
DIRECTION EXERCISED: Works in cooperation with the Product Distribution crew under the coordination of the Product Distribution Coordinator. Takes direct supervision from the Area Manager and/or Shift Supervisor.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, track mobile, banding tools and machines, hand tools, etc. coil wrapping equipment and any and all designated material handling equipment. RF scanners and other mobile equipment as designated.
MATERIALS HANDLED: Metal coils, packaging materials, banding and warehouse goods, pick lists, load lists, inbound BOL/Packing List, Outbound BOL/Packing List, schedules, scrap.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), plus 1 year related experience and/or training on overhead crane and forklift; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in manufacturing and coil handling preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, shippers, receivers and coil tickets. Ability to write simple instructions. Ability to communicate verbally with supervision, co-workers, venders and carrier personnel.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must be able to look up and input data to multi-screen computer system and use personal computers.
