Job Description

As a Warehouse & Distribution Manageryou will handle the overall activity of the warehouse, including safety/risk management, quality, receiving, transportation (private fleet and 3rd party carriers.) Warehousing in accordance with established Company and regulatory policies and procedures including the WMS (Warehouse Management System.) In this role you will manage the process and performance involved in daily activities of the warehouse to achieve established operating income and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service to internal and external customers in receiving, processing, and distributing merchandise and supplies to customers.
  • Supervision of employees assigned to various distribution jobs such as Packaging, Shipping, Transportation, and Receiving.
  • Owner of the WMS (Warehouse Management System.)
  • Reviews in-coming orders and advises of errors and questions and assists in resolutions when appropriate.
  • Acts as logistics facilitator to ensure all elements of the distribution process are coordinated in such a way that customer requirements and time constraints are met.
  • Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy.
  • Schedules with carriers reconciles freight bills, prepares, and negotiates claims, and selects or

recommends carriers to ensure efficient, prompt, and least expensive movement of goods and material.

  • Conducts research on transportation methods, rates, and routes.
  • Coordinates with sales, customer experience, and manufacturing teams to align shipments and timing.
  • Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluate past performance and cost of transportation.
  • Supervises employees who use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, hand carts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within a plant, office, or warehouse.
  • Oversees the processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment. May assist in selecting appropriate containers and wrapping methods for materials to be shipped or stored.
  • Coordinates with engineers, shippers, carton manufacturers, and carpenters for special crating and packing requirements.
  • Supervises employees who maintain records, invoices, and bills of lading.
  • Assumes responsibility for effective communication, coordination, and working relationships between associates and management team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • ·Strong cross functional leadership, including routine collaboration working with and/or leading with other departments and responsibilities such as Contracts negotiation, Program Management and implementation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage personnel, resources, and competing objectives in a dynamic and time sensitive work environment.
  • Commitment to being responsive, solutions focused, and customer oriented.
  • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proven experience with ERP, WMS, and 3PL’s preferred, IQMS experience is a plus.
