Job description

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Warehouse Buyer and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will communicate with vendors on invoicing, payments and other information needed to process orders and invoices. Assist with the coordination of the corporate credit card program, processes, and reconciliation. Ability to evaluate and discern inventory processes and transaction codes. Ability to research and recommend changes as discrepancies arise in inventory, related to credit card purchased stock items. Review inventory variances from credit card statement and perform root cause analysis to aid in preventing reoccurrences. Prepare monthly credit card reconciliation. Coordinate as necessary with other warehouse areas for issues in receiving stock items. Communicate with the Cognizant Engineers, Procurement, and Quality Assurance on purchase orders with receiving inspection issues. Communicate with personnel, management, and supportive departments. Perform any other warehouse related tasks or as assigned by manager.

Non-Exempt Salary Grade (26-27)

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or
  • Associate degree plus four (4) years of work experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency plus eight (8) years of work experience is required.
  • Must possess demonstrated mathematical and computer skills.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is desired.
  • Good oral and written communication skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with Oracle System (IFMS) is desired.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
