Auction Assistant

At NRI Industrial Sales, safety is our priority. Our job sites have sanitation stations, and regular cleaning is undertaken to ensure the health of our workers. Employees are required to wear face masks or coverings, in compliance with Ohio State, and physical distancing is practiced in the workplace.

Position Summary: As a part of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the on-site auction planning process and providing exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will include the following:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

· Auction Preparation:

o Utilize a reach truck, forklift, or ladder with a scanning system to pick obsolete items from inventory.

o Organize auction items onto pallets.

o Photograph all auction items and pallets.

· Shipping Preparation:

o Retrieve auction lots based on paddle/lot/reference numbers.

o Securely band, crate, and consolidate pallets for final shipping requirements.

o Weight and provide dimensions for combined pallets/lots (BOLs).

o Stage the lots for shipping.

o Properly label each lot for accurate delivery to the customer.

o Assist customers in loading auction items and pallets.

o Update the spreadsheet after items are shipped.

· Other Essential Tasks:

o Maintain continuous organization of NRI warehouse(s) for current and future auction preparation and staging.

o Collaborate with the Auction team on labor-related duties.

o Sort items (either for resale or as scrap).

· Teamwork:

o Actively participate in department, shift, and/or team meetings.

o Contribute safety and quality suggestions to enhance our processes.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

· Proficiency in MS Office applications as well as Google and Google Docs.

· Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and outstanding attendance.

· Adherence to established department policies, procedures, and objectives.

· Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others.

· Read and write English proficiently.

· Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Also, the ability to compute rates and percentages accurately and obtain dimensions of items (e.g., weights and measurements).

· Effective communication with other departments and locations.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
· Warehouse Environment, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

· Requires walking, standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.

· Routine use of standard warehouse equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and box cutters.

· Vision abilities required for data validation and entry on the computer.

Position Qualifications

· Must be able to pass a background check.

Education:

· HS graduate or equivalent

Experience:

· Forklift experience is preferred.

· Familiarity with handheld scanners.

· Knowledge of inventory systems.

· Prior understanding of shipping practices (e.g., BOLs, Customs Invoice, PRO number, tracking numbers, etc.).

· Some experience in an inbound call center environment.
