Job description

Duties

  • Serves as a banquet captain and working leader of 3 or more servers in accomplishing trades and labor work.
  • As banquet captain, incumbent reviews the banquet event ordering requirements.
  • Informs supervisor of overall results and or makes recommendations for future changes, and provides informal feedback to staff on performance.
  • Plans work by reviewing daily schedules and determines sequences, steps, procedures and techniques to be followed in accomplishing the work.
  • Ensures staff and banquet order requirements are ready, greets the host or the point of contact for the event, reviews operation in progress and sets the work pace with the servers, assigns staff to tasks, and receives payment for the event.

  • Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Stands and walks for long periods.
  • Continually lifts and carries, by balancing food, beverage and banqueting items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

1. Six months experience in banqueting.
2. Must be friendly and outgoing.
3. Must work quickly and efficiently in order to serve guests.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.

  • Incentives will not be paid.
