Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor and Team Leader's instructions, this position will conduct safe, efficient vehicle movement and parking as well as to conduct preparations on new factory condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.

Responsibilities

Perform proper vehicle handling procedures that include watching surroundings while operating vehicles to maximize safety, follow all port traffic policies and posted speed limits.

Prior to driving vehicles, inspect vehicles to ensure that it is damage-free and functioning correctly
Drive and park vehicles in accordance with vehicle handling procedures and obey all traffic laws while operating vehicles.
Drive vehicles following a set schedule or route.
PPE must be worn properly while handling/operating vehicles. Follow all PPE and anti-mutilation rules and guidelines that also include nail length, jeans or buckles. Appropriate anti-mutilation apparel and gear must be worn while handling/operating vehicles.
Maintain constant contact with the Team Leader and keep track of pickup and drop-off locations as necessary and required.
If vehicle develops mechanical difficulties or sustains damage of any type, document the problems and report to management immediately.
Read and understand parking location maps.
Report any unsafe conditions or road hazards to management.
Immediately report all accidents or incidents.

Drives vehicles on/Off Conveyors and to specific locations to be inspected. Prepares vehicles for various stages of processing.
Timely and accurately complete assigned tasks according to company guidelines and standards.
Communicate effectively with team members regarding matters of the distribution department.
Perform tire pressure checks using a hand-held pressure gauge.
Perform battery condition checks using hand-held equipment.
Drive vehicles through automated car washes.
Remove exterior/interior plastic protective wrap; remove trash from vehicles.
Understanding of identifying units for specific locations.

Follow all safety and compliance standards
Observe all safety precautions, while working in the production work area.
Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follows all policies and procedures regarding safety.
Follow all safety procedures and bring all violations to the attention of management.

Skills

• Must be willing and able to cross-train in other departmental needs
• Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Good depth perception and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles
• Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length
• Must have demonstrated mechanical abilities
• Must have a general knowledge of automobile components

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma/G.E.D
• Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
