Job Description
VP of Theatrical and Non-Theatrical Distribution is responsible for creating and executing initial release strategy for IFC Films , RLJE film and servicing any other AMCN owned platform film releases (i.e. Shudder or Hi-Dive). Creation of release strategy is inclusive of, but not limited to, traditional theatrical or day and date windowing strategies for titles, setting box office and film rental revenue targets for for overall film budget. The VP will negotiate film rental with exhibitors for all new releases, assuring maximum revenue potential in the marketplace. VP will set release dates for titles, considering Theatrical and digital competitive landscapes, workflows of all departments i.e. Marketing and PR, SVOD and Pay 1 window output partner needs, and will plan regional theatrical rollouts of titles so that entire slate, as well as the individual titles within the slate, are given the greatest opportunity to gross revenue across the whole film slate.
VP will be contact point for filmmakers on theatrical, non-Theatrical and specialty distribution, managing expectations with talent, discussing distribution plans and date considerations, and communicating theatrical sales statuses as well as Theatrical and digital grosses, as well as contextualizing grosses to filmmakers. VP will budget for theatrical distribution expenses, including fulfillment, operations, and exhibitor partner marketing, and will negotiate best rates with vendors. (Position) will oversee and expand all AMCN film labels' international and non-theatrical distribution, leveraging existing partners to maximize revenue for the slate, and expanding sales with our non-theatrical (DVD, airlines, ships, educational) partners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creates theatrical distribution strategies for titles, sets target dates for every market and location.
  • Sets revenue targets for each title, as well as for markets and circuits on major releases.
  • Manages relationships with key exhibitors across commercial and independent circuits nationwide
  • Works with theatrical sales team on national implementation of distribution strategies
  • Secures New York City and Los Angeles theaters for every title, as well as national dates from major exhibitors and key regional exhibition partners
  • Negotiates top revenue settlements with all exhibitors nationwide on all film titles
  • Sets and oversees theatrical distribution budget, manages vendors and negotiating rates
  • Leverages existing domestic and international nontheatrical partners to further support additional revenue for all film releases - including but not limited to airlines, educational and hotel sales
  • Expands IFC Films' nontheatrical partnerships, negotiating overall deals for new potential partners
  • Manages all AMCN film labels' international theatrical distribution, both in house and through subdistribution, including Canada and other English-speaking territories
  • Manages the Coordinator for theatrical sales as well as any independent bookers the company has hired,
  • Oversight of all budgets and strategies for in-theater marketing buys, in-theater marketing material creations, and co-ops
  • Attends major exhibitor conventions and pertinent film festivals
  • Coordinates physical disc release dates for new titles with RLJE or external partners for specialty dvd market
  • Oversees physical disc releases and any specialty non-theatrical screenings for library titles
  • Represents Distribution to filmmakers, providing updates on strategy and progress
  • Provides grosses updates to licensors, contextualizing the data and informing filmmakers on their films' performances, as well as giving them information on future exploitation of their films, such as physical media and SVOD dates
  • Extensive Theatrical and ancillary analysis with both a creative and statistical understanding of the competitive landscape.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)
  • 10+ years' experience in film knowledge, Theatrical and non-theatrical booking and sales
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of competitive marketplace and relationships with Exhibitors nationwide both on the commercial and arthouse market

The base compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 commensurate with experience.
