VP Research & Development

Haptiq is Searching for an entrepreneurial, innovative technical leader to pilot and iterate on technical products. The role of a Vice President of Research and Development (R&D) is crucial in driving innovation and growth within an organization. This executive position combines scientific expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to oversee the development of new products, technologies, and solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

● Create high-quality software solutions on tight schedules with responsibility and ownership of R&D deliveries

● Design solutions, set technical direction and quality standards, implement hands-on guide

● Define the growth plan and strategy for the R&D team.

● Coordinate with product management, technology, design, sales, and marketing teams to research, deliver,

and maintain best-of-breed products

● Define KPIs that reflect product health. Organize analytics campaigns and devise reporting to track KPIs.

● Design consumer-facing, developer-friendly integrations for products, such as APIs, SDKs, webhooks, and

outgoing integrations.

● Understand the competitive marketplace for our products and key engineering differentiators

● Develop scalable, composable solutions architectures for products under development

● Coordinate and track site reliability plans, ensuring observability is a first-order concern in product

development and infrastructure deployment

● Collaborate with technical writers to document APIs, SDKs, architectures, and product interfaces.

● Ensure data security and regulatory compliance for products under development

● Stay abreast of the latest technology developments in software, infrastructure, and AI/ML domains relevant

to our product and make recommendations where appropriate

● Evangelize product vision and technology in conferences, presales meetings, and meetups.

● Lead teams that innovate and iterate on emergent technologies.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

● Management of a global R&D team

● Proven experience in Cloud products and platforms

● Proven experience in delivering high-quality products

● Ability to lead R&D to deliver major innovation and roadmap items

● 5+ years of experience leading SAAS technology teams in product development

● 10+ years of hands-on experience researching, architecting, and maintaining technology solutions

● Hands-on coding experience

● Experience scaling systems to large volumes of users and traffic

● Experience designing systems that are resilient in the event of failure

● Excellent communication skills

● Ability to collaborate with and leverage team members across the globe

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
