Responsible for the development, delivery, and management of insurance product strategy and solutions.  This includes guiding market intelligence and governance processes to ensure we develop and maintain a competitive portfolio of compelling Product Solutions, including differentiated solutions exclusive to M and tailored to our market.  Success in this role will require strong leadership and vision, technical product acumen and experience, the ability to develop and leverage productive relationships with key partners and stakeholders, and development of a high-performing team focused on innovation and execution.

 RESPONSIBILITIES       

• Develop, refine, and execute a compelling and competitive product solution strategy that delivers differentiated solutions for Member Firms
• Deliver and manage product portfolio reflecting market feedback, competitive intelligence, proprietary product principles, and M Reinsurance standards
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a holistic approach to developing, delivering and supporting end-to-end Product Solutions
• Engage carrier relationships to create and deliver a broad portfolio of competitive and differentiated solutions leveraging M’s unique advantages and tailored to our core markets
• Manage the product strategy and governance processes, including coordinating with Member Firm committees, Senior Leadership Team, and Board Members as appropriate
• Utilize technology and internal/external data sources to improve product competitive information and influence product development
• Develop and maintain competitive intelligence capabilities regarding Product Solutions available both in and outside of M
• Advocate for Member Firms and their clients by upholding M’s Inforce Management Principles
• Provide technical advice, education, and guidance to stakeholders
• Develop a high-performing team focused on innovation and execution

QUALIFICATIONS           

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in life insurance with progressive responsibility
• FSA designation preferred
• Strong experience in research, development, and pricing of life insurance products with emphasis on VUL and other sophisticated solutions
• Strong communication skills, with the dual ability to converse high level strategy as well as technical details depending on the audience; ability to effectively connect with both executive and member firm audiences
• Well-developed computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in actuarial modeling software is preferred due to management of actuarial modeling staff
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with M Team members, Member Firms, and Partner Carriers

JOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT 

• Hybrid work environment in Portland, OR offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility, or onsite in Dallas, TX
• Normal office environment/desk assignment
• Extensive use of PC’s, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
• Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents

Organizational Relationships

The position reports to the Head of Insurance Solutions and is part of the Insurance Solutions team. This position requires collaboration at all levels of the organization.

External Relationships

This position routinely works with carriers, Member Firms, and the life insurance community.  This position will require moderate travel or virtual conferencing in order to develop and maintain those relationships.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.
You will also be eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
