What you'll learn & achieve:

The VP Product will:

  • Evolve the product strategy by creating an integrated platform vision (Avengers) to accelerate growth.
  • Lead the product strategy across all UL Solutions Business by creating a team focused on developing a strategic software platform roadmap, product management processes and governance.
  • Communicate the vision, strategy, and goals of the product to product managers and teams of employees that are from different functional departments.
  • Know our target customers well, their needs, expectations, and problems. Research target markets to evolve their product development strategies and deliver improved customer experience.
  • Establish concise definitions of how the product helps customers, how it will solve their problems, and what value will it add to their lives. Ensure the product plan aligns with the overall vision and goals of the organization.
  • Create a detailed integrated platform roadmap that includes the target product market and the needs it aims to fulfill.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the product's performance and the organization's expectations from the product.
  • Develop and oversee the entire product innovation process with a problem-solving approach.
  • Coordinate with the software engineering teams to motivate and supervise the organization to take the necessary actions for bringing the concept and strategy of a product to life on schedule.
  • Establish acquisition and investment requirements.
  • Manage respective budget and support achievement of P&Ls
  • Responsible for development and continuous management of the overall E&A strategic product roadmap.
  • Creates a platform strategy (e.g., Avengers) that articulates the value proposition across software products by bringing together current software, advisory service and Testing, Inspection, Cerfitficaton services (TIC).
  • Collaborates with business operations team in development of product management documentation, templates, governance, and continuous improvement approach as needed.
  • Works with Product Development on rapid prototyping and feedback
  • Responsible for managing the relationship with software engineering partners and establishing a management cadence around key performance indicators (KPI's), Objective Key Results (OKRs) and other key metrics
  • Partners with business operations on an aligned client experience strategy.
  • Represents E&A's interest on cross enterprise digital initiatives to ensure alignment and a strong value proposition at the enterprise level (i.e., ERIS, In-Market Performance, TIC transformation, etc.)
  • Leads market and technology research and competitive analysis to progress product and technology strategy.
  • Integrates market and customer knowledge, strategic insight and a strong user focus to create great products.
  • Collaborates across E&A and UL to create business impact
  • Participates in thought leadership initiatives and champions best practices and innovative thinking.
  • Attend Executive Meetings and present product strategy initiatives and progress
  • Strongly interacts with E&A Leadership and teams, TIC Business, Customer Experience, Commercial, Transformation/ Digital and Corporate functions
  • Interact with market.
  • Interact with key customers.
  • Attend strategic external events, as needed.
What makes you a great fit:
  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in Business Admin, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 15 years of experience in product strategy, product management and/or product marketing.
  • Must have worked extensively in regulatory compliance, supply chain, quality and/or sustainability software business.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to interact with customers at all levels of an organization including highly visible activities such as negotiating or presenting.
  • Ability to manage and process large quantities of information and complex situations and develop constructive solutions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work and lead in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Digital / tech-savvy.
  • Business and Financial acumen.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in SOFTWARE product strategy, product management and/or product marketing
  • Deep knowledge and experience in risk, compliance, quality and sustainability software business

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $206,000 - $275,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

    All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 40% of the base salary offered. Additionally, director level employees are eligible for annual long-term incentive. The target for this position is 40% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.  

    We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (20 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
