The Opportunity

The VP People will play a key role in ensuring people operations are effective and efficient through your leadership of HR Business Partners, People Operations and Talent Acquisition teams. As a leader on the team, you will help develop and implement best people management practices, collaborating effectively across the global HR organization. This role provides practical guidance on both operational and commercial topics, delivering the People strategy alongside the wider People Leadership team and with the support of a team of HRBPs in conjunction with business priorities and future requirements, as well as centrally led HR initiatives.

Leading a team of HRBPs and Talent Acquisition in the Americas and EMEA, you will spearhead strategic enterprise change management for transformational initiatives that drive business growth. Your responsibilities include ensuring Flywheel’s overall people strategy and goals are not only supported, adopted, and documented but also championed by the business with minimal disruption to operations.

Ideally, this person will be located near one of our hub offices (Baltimore or New York)

What You Will Do:

  • Lead HR in the Americas and EMEA including our HR Operations and Talent Acquisition teams; focusing on creating efficient teams with the capabilities that support the needs of the business
  • Support business leaders in organisational design work and execution, partner with our APAC teams to implement globally
  • Own the review, implementation, and evolution of core programs and processes across payroll, benefits, compensation, onboarding and offboarding, data reporting, including immigration and compliance practices and broader HR policies
  • Accountable for current HR system data integrity, reporting and analytics, including supporting implementation of any new platforms
  • Manage employee records and policies, implementing fit for purpose processes and audits, in compliance with recent employment law updates (i.e., pay transparency compliance, global mobility, labour laws, unemployment claims, records retention policies, etc.)
  • In collaboration with Pillar Leaders, translate business goals and strategy into efficient people processes that are scalable, pragmatic, and adaptable to business needs; ensure appropriate documentation of processes and functionality is maintained, including workflows, program functions and steps to follow
  • Integration of systems, processes and policies for acquired businesses and with our parent organization
  • Continuously assess and respond to evolving requirements and make recommendations for updates and improvements

Who You Are:

  • You have 10+ years progressive HR experience in a global, public and matrixed organization; experience in startup and high growth organizations is also highly valued.
  • Experienced leader of people as this role manages a team of 15+ colleagues
  • Demonstrable experience in M&A integrations and change management.
  • Strong acumen with both strategic and tactical functions managing across human capital needs, including HR data and analytics, project management, policies and compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of People Operations, how business operates, and how people and people programs drive those operations
  • Understanding of strategic Talent Acquisition including resource,headcount planning and the metrics that measure effectiveness
  • Diagnoses problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions, striking the right balance between speed/flexibility and process/infrastructure
  • High-energy professional with demonstrated self-confidence, adaptability, high integrity, and fortitude
  • Thrives in a fast paced, ambiguous environment and is able to manage multiple priorities, simultaneously.
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity and a bias for action
  • Translate business goals and strategy into people processes that are scalable, pragmatic, and adaptable to business needs
  • An inclusive approach with the ability to build and manage relationships, share knowledge and influence others
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication, including high-quality document preparation and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a hands on practitioner & leader, and has experience creating a high performing people partner and people operations teams
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, practices, and current employment laws.

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.

Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
