Job Summary

The Vice President, Communications for Optimum will lead internal and external communications strategies and programs in support of the company’s Optimum-branded telecommunications business, which delivers advanced connectivity services to millions of residential and business customers across the company’s 21-state footprint. This includes leadership, planning, execution, and oversight of communications activities for the company’s Optimum internet, mobile, phone, TV, and managed business services, with a focus on promoting the company’s advanced product portfolio to media and increasing engagement and awareness of Optimum’s key priorities and strategies among employees.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Communications, this individual should be capable of both developing new ideas and comprehensive strategies while also serving as an excellent tactician and business partner.  

Responsibilities

  • Conceiving, developing, implementing, and integrating a broad range of communications activities with the goal of promoting and protecting the Optimum brand among internal and external audiences 
  • Develop and carry out proactive and reactive communications plans for the company’s Optimum business with a focus on elevating the company’s leading connectivity portfolio and gaining positive exposure for the company and its programs and initiatives 
  • Proactively lead Optimum storytelling, message development, and narration, partnering with business partners and broader communications team 
  • Develop and ensure consistent delivery of appropriate messaging to relevant media and employee audiences, overseeing all communications materials supporting key Optimum programs and initiatives 
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Optimum brand, managing proactive and reactive press outreach and inquiries 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant national, consumer, and regional media while also identifying and securing key speaking opportunities for Optimum leadership 
  • Serve as the communications lead for members of the Optimum executive team, including President, Consumer Services; President, Business Services, and EVP, Growth & Innovation teams 
  • Plan, lead and/or advise on external and internal events both large and small for specific Optimum business units or at the enterprise level 
  • Oversee the use of PR agency support and collaborate regularly with internal production and events team 
  • Contribute new ideas and champion best practices across the entire communications organization and the Optimum business, where appropriate 
  • Participate in the development of a thriving, inclusive culture throughout the organization 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of strategic communications/public relations experience, preferably related to media, telecommunications, technology, or consumer products and services 
  • Successful track record of managing large campaigns/programs and working with clients and/or business leaders in a counselor setting 
  • Experience working with executives up to the C-suite level as well as with media contacts / reporters 
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and pivot quickly 
  • Firm understanding of best practices for modern communications as it relates to the use of content, digital channels, social media etc. 
  • Possess: endless curiosity about his/her craft as well as trends influencing business and culture; a can-do attitude; an appreciation for the importance of the team, a strong worth ethic; a good sense of humor

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $178,500.00 - $255,000.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
