Job Description
The Vice President of Operations - Austin will provide strategic vision and financial leadership for all business units within the Block 21 business unit of Opry Entertainment Group (OEG). This individual will be responsible for maximizing the growth and profitability of the existing operations: ACL Live, 3TEN, W Hotel, retail, leased office space, residences, and parking components. The VP will ensure business units consistently deliver flawless execution and identify strategies to maximize the profitability of this OEG business unit through operational improvements, capital investments, and proactive asset management initiatives. Position based in Austin, TX. Reports to EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Opry Entertainment Group (OEG).
  • Create accurate, long-range financial objectives and supporting plans to meet or exceed projected goals.
  • Review monthly and annual financial statements, sales and activity reports for each business unit, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement to determine areas needing financial improvements. This includes ACL Live, W Hotel, retail, leased office space, residences, and parking components.
  • Lead annual operating and capital planning activities for each Block 21 business unit and the requisite critical evaluation and presentation of the plans to the OEG Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain critical community, hospitality, and entertainment-related relationships that benefit the Block 21 development, including governmental agencies, promoters, lobbyists, and local and state tourism officials.
  • Define and implement key performance indicators and metrics, drive improvement initiatives and encourage a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency, innovation, and customer service.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to entertainment and lodging leaders by defining priorities and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for and serve as primary contact for Marriott International pertaining to financial, capital, employee, and residential HOA oversight through required asset management practices.
  • Partner with OEG's Ryman Auditorium concerts team and Artist Relations leadership to develop strategies to increase the annual number of concerts and overall profitability.
  • In conjunction with the ACL Live and W Hotel sales team, maximize utilization of the venue's catering and event spaces.
  • Partner with OEG's Business Development team to successfully develop and execute company sponsorship and growth plans.
  • Active involvement with recruiting, hiring, and developing team members in support of building and maintaining solid bench strength for future growth.
  • Ability to identify complementary growth opportunities in the Austin market to support broader strategic growth and improve market financial contributions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business with Entertainment/Hospitality/Operations Management emphasis or other related discipline required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Experience
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible operations leadership in entertainment venue and/or hospitality business

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Keen understanding and knowledge of entertainment and hospitality industries, with an
    exceptional aptitude for venue operations, asset management and financial statements
  • Advanced business acumen and revenue development skills, including significant strategic
    thinking capabilities
  • Engaging and motivating leader, compelled to lead by example and drive for strong results
  • Accustomed to working on high-growth or developing brands with a history of cultivating
    meaningful solutions and strength in identifying growth opportunities
  • Extensive expertise in formulating, implementing, and executing business plans
  • Leadership strength in building, inspiring, and motivating teams to achieve targeted results
  • Highly skilled in identifying, cultivating, and developing top talent
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business and multi-functional teams,
    developing strong business relationships and partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills
