VP of Operations, Solutions

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for producing safe, quality premix nutrient blends at all of our Carol Stream location in a manner that promotes a safe workplace, protects the environment and exceeds regulatory requirements. The Vice President of Operations, Solutions will drive a lean organization that is cost effective while providing our employees a positive, engaging work environment. .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Provide consistent leadership in managing people and providing all employees a positive, engaging work environment.
  • Oversee and supervise the execution of approved processes to manufacture high quality, defect free premix nutrient blends that meet customer specifications
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in EHS.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture focused on achieving the goal of zero accidents and injuries in our facilities
  • Train our employees on safe practices, encourage employee involvement, and address safety issues in the workplace.
  • Own key safety and/or environmental programs with associated training.
  • Ensure making safe, quality product is a critical pillar to manufacturing.
  • Drive best practices in sanitation and GMPs.
  • Ensure shipments get to customers on time and in full.
  • Champion continuous improvement throughout manufacturing to drive waste out of our manufacturing processes and reduce our lead times.
  • Lead all customer interactions with Operations including audits and tours
  • Complete quarterly performance reviews and all other documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Lead by example the core value of customer focus by being dedicated to achieving complete customer satisfaction.
  • Own and maintain the facility plan. Assist engineering in developing long term capital plans.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the Solutions operations teams.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a core science, engineering or management or other related field, with a minimum of 15+ years of relevant professional experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Masters’s degree is preferred.
  • Lean and/or 6 Sigma certifications is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak with people at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive change
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to make educated judgments on correctness, accuracy, and appropriateness of information
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), ERP systems and Salesforce.com.
Travel:
Up to 20% travel

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lab lbs.
  • Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Other physical requirements include moderate standing and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to stand for an extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
