Job description

The VP of Marketing will lead a high-performance team of marketers and creators, including internal content and web teams and external agency partners. You are responsible for developing marketing strategies in line with company objectives aimed to increase awareness of the Spirit brand, drive fan engagement, enhance player marketing and support revenue goals.

The VP of Marketing will:
  • Craft and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
  • Design, plan and execute effective marketing campaigns to support the strategy and monitor and report on the performance of Marketing initiatives providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Build brand awareness and generate innovative ideas to elevate brand positioning and fan engagement
  • Oversee the development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns, including social media, email marketing, and online advertising, in line with organizational objectives
  • Develop content strategies, including paid media, based on organizational objectives and audience segments across all channels (online, offline, social)
  • Lead the marketing planning and strategy for the end-to-end integrated go-to-market campaigns across channels including TV, digital, out-of-home, email, influencer, social, paid media, experiential, and partner platforms
  • Develop in-season advertising and content that drives earned media, website development and optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective execution of Marketing initiatives
  • Develop and implement player marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Identify, attract and retain top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Sporting Operations team to ensure all partners and activations are aligned with our team and team's values
  • Successfully manage and partner with various vendors and agencies
  • Uphold brand identity and guidelines while ensuring consistency across all marketing channels
  • Leverage social media platforms to connect with fans, promote events, and share content
  • Produce content for corporate partners and community partners

Our ideal candidate has:
  • 10+ years proven marketing experience with a focus on national and local brand marketing, consumer engagement and communication
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering innovative marketing ideation with an eye for creative storytelling
  • Extensive experience across all media platforms and channels
  • A proven track record of engaging consumers through social and digital channels
  • Thorough knowledge of Marketing principles, brand growth, product and service management, ideally in sports or an analogous business
  • The ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial start-up environment with high performance standards and keep up with a fast pace and are easily able to pivot when something does not work
  • Solid communication skills and adept at building relationships, and liaising with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing creative and high-performance teams with measurable results

Location:
This role is primarily based at our Falls Church, VA office, with occasional work in Washington, D.C. Our front office team follows a hybrid arrangement, requiring presence in the office 3 days a week.
