Job Description
As VP, you are responsible for estimating and project management for our landscape construction customers. This may involve design work, bidding/estimating, partnering with sales and our in-house service teams, managing subcontractor relationships, and ultimately delivering the solution we have promised our customer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of assistant project managers and estimators.
- Work with the development and growth of the construction and enhancement sales teams to meet and exceed company goals.
- Manage estimating workflow and pipeline to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines.
- Review RFP’s, plans, addendums, and specs to determine the scope of work and the most effective production methods.
- Assist customers and ops team with technical information and pricing before and during construction.
- Develop relationships with key GC and developer decision-makers within the company’s regions.
- Obtain qualified subcontractor quotes for each scope of work and review scope and final bids with each sub.
- Solicit written quotes for materials, plant materials, and any other items needed to complete the total direct cost estimate for the job.
- Travel to job sites to observe current conditions, job progress and attend required meetings.
- Complete plan take-off and enter all estimate data in estimating software.
- Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts.
- Assign, recommend, and/or propose gross profit margins based on current pricing guidelines.
- Responsible for approving all assistant project managers work.
- Prepare bid summaries for each estimate and review them with Sales management as part of the Sales hand-off.
- Complete a thorough pre-construction hand-off of the job packet with the operation team as part of the Start clean/Finish clean Process.
- Participate in all WIP and job cost review meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction management, Horticulture, Business or any other applicable major is strongly desired.
- Extensive understanding of landscape installation and construction methods.
- Basic knowledge of plant materials and best horticultural practices.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Ability to build strong relationships with prospects, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all situations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and estimating software like Pro-Est, Dynascape, and Aspire.
- Basic understanding of business math, accounting, and financial reporting.
Minimum Experience Required:
- 3+ years of leadership/Management experience
- 3+ years of Estimating/Project Management or landscape design experience
