About the opportunity:

Jerry is looking for a VP of engineering who is passionate about people development and working on consumer products that have a net positive impact to come lead and scale our team of talented engineers. You will partner with our founders and CTO to co-develop our technical strategy, provide guidance to our engineers, build a culture of excellence and develop processes and systems to scale up our engineering org as we enter this next phase of our Super App journey. Your high expectations and energy will inspire everyone around you.

What you'll do:

• Lead and mentor our team of mobile, web, backend and data engineers

• Directly supervise our team leaders and develop a strong engineering culture

• Provide technical guidance on architecture, performance and scalability, security, etc.

• Develop systems and processes to scale performance, maintain engagement in a mostly remote engineering environment

• Facilitate and collaborate with cross functional partners including product, design, data science, marketing and operations

Who you are:

• Fluent in Mandarin and English

• Track record of building and scaling high-performing teams

• Strong technical mastery and in software engineering at scale

• Experience weathering a startup is strongly preferred 

• Passionate about teaching and developing others

• You continually strive for excellence and are never satisfied with the status quo

Our technical stack:

• Heavily Javascript (Typescript) based: NodeJS (Nest JS, Express), React, React Native, Next.js

• GraphQL API

• PostgreSQL DB (transactional)

• ClickHouse (columnar DB for data warehousing)

• Redis (session storage, task queue management)

• Sequelize ORM (being deprecated in favor of TypeORM)

• Jest test runner

• Infrastructure: Built on AWS, microservice architecture with containerized services deployed on ECS and EKS. Asynchronous processing functions running on Lambda.

Jerry is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
