Job Description

The VP, Media serves as a senior expert for digital programmatic media (e.g. display, video, audio) and is a key contact on small to mid-tier clients or teams with the Client Service team on larger clients. This person manages a programmatic team including Directors and Associate Media Directors, is responsible for strategic programmatic media discussions and shares in the responsibility of providing account leadership in partnership with other key subject matter experts (Media, Search, Data, SEO) to drive media and marketing solutions for clients.  This role is a hybrid of a client service and account management role and works to bridge the strategic account relationship with the programmatic campaign strategy and execution being delivered by the team.  It is focused on delivery and organic growth. 

Responsibilities:

Core Craft Skills 

  • Plans and buys programmatic media as needed; may include direct account and client service responsibilities. 
  • Develops and maintains publisher relationships, including senior-level contacts; contributes to issue resolution between both parties. 
  • Works cross-functionally with management team and client team. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills/presence. 
  • Solid financial acumen and business expertise.  

Client Exposure 

  • Manages multiple lines of business on assigned account ($100+ million in total spend). 
  • Provides programmatic marketing expertise, including strategy development for clients and client teams. Conversant about offline media and how digital fits. 

Business Development 

  • Actively contributes to new business efforts. 

Team Leadership 

  • Manages a staff of 10+ total team members, along with workflow and department capabilities in conjunction with the Media Director and senior leaders 
  • Provides day-to-day functional management of programmatic media team, including recruiting, performance management, and plays an active role in training and mentoring. 

Agency Leadership 

  • Assists with interviewing, hiring and getting new programmatic Media team members up to speed. 
  • Leads Programmatic Media Training (basic knowledge, best practices, feedback and coaching to enable continuous improvement). 
  • Fosters an environment of shared learning and acts as a trusted source of media information for agency and in client meetings. 
  • Holds a strong partnership with the Insights Group; understands ad technologies and capabilities. 
  • Understands all Razorfish products, tools and services. 
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of media planning or equivalent business experience; minimum 4+ years in online media preferred. 
  • Deep understanding of digital programmatic planning, buying, and ad tech vendors. 
  • Hands on experience with DSPs including Yahoo or DV360 required; Amazon DSP or The Trade Desk experience a plus.
  • 3+ years management experience preferred. Has worked at the Director level on more than one account. 
  • Has successfully handled complex strategic media discussions across strategy and execution. They participate in annual planning for a medium- to large-scale or several small scale accounts. 
  • Has supported in a critical capacity several high-profile new business pitch. 
  • Has developed a strong knowledge of emerging technologies; shares learning with team. 
  • Has shown emerging thought leadership capabilities (attends conferences and speaks on panels). 
  • Has demonstrated strong client service orientation. Has collaborated effectively internally and with offline agency partners.
  • DCO Strategy and implementation experience is a plus.
  • Insurance, financial services, or retail industry experience is a plus.

Compensation Range: $143,000 - $240,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.  The Company anticipates the application window for this job posting will end 02/01/2024.
