WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE
Revantage is seeking a Vice President of Insurance Risk Management to lead all Risk Management and insurance programs globally for Revantage and Blackstone's real estate portfolio companies, with the goal of identifying and assessing the risks of their operations and develop Risk Management solutions to minimize those risks. The candidate will leverage our buying power in the procurement of insurance and create a scalable and innovative approach to Risk Management. The Candidate will also serve as a key advisor to senior executive leadership, deal teams, and business partners to advise on risk-related and insurance matters.
ResponsibilitiesHOW YOU ADD VALUE
- Leads our efforts to right-size and modernize our existing Risk Management platform, with the goal of improving the development, implementation, and consistent application of effective risk transfer programs, claims management programs, policies and procedures, and risk reporting tools
- Establishes written policies and procedures for each area of the Risk Management function
- Ensures such policies and procedures are communicated to stakeholders and are updated regularly
- Utilize Origami to ensure progress and meet the goals and expectations of both the portfolio companies and Blackstone Real Estate
- Works with senior management to establish risk-related goals and objectives and to ensure that Risk Management activities are compatible with strategic objectives of Blackstone Real Estate, Revantage and the portfolio companies.
- Directs and supervises the Risk Management team, and ensures continued focus on scaling the risk function and developing best in class services and processes
- Fosters a more effective Risk Management Department and supports professional development and succession planning of direct reports
- Oversees the procurement of appropriate levels of commercial insurance and other risk transfer and claims management programs, using and leveraging our buying power to achieve cost savings
- Directs the services provided by all insurance brokers and other key risk vendors relationships
- Maintains executive-level sponsorship at all key insurance partners
- Advises and updates Blackstone Real Estate executives, Revantage senior management, and the portfolio companies' senior management on key Risk Management issues
- Collaborates and interacts with business partners throughout the organization to understand businesses Risk Management needs, key strategic initiatives, and minimizing risk exposures.
- Maintains an effective and proactive Risk Management framework that influences process change and considers impact on risks and other resources
- Educates and advises on adequacy and levels of coverages for first-party property, general liability, directors' and officers' liability, fidelity, cyber and other forms of insurance
- Works with portfolio companies to secure appropriate insurance programs and contract language for large construction projects
- Defines appropriate metrics and key performance data, including annual insurance costs and renewal information, key Risk Management issues, loss trends, and other reporting requirements defined by management
- Act as in-house resource to educate, advise, and counsel company management, property staff, and business partners where necessary to reduce or transfer risk
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/business/technical school
- Minimum of 15+ year's Risk Management and Claims Experience
- Experience in leading Risk Management and insurance functions
- Understanding of the real estate industries and sectors, including the main products & services provided
- Excellent communication (verbal & written), numerical, presentation & organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong leadership/teamwork skills
- Effective reasoning and decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and follow up in a timely manner
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems, particularly Excel; and working knowledge of RMIS requirements and capabilities
Preferred:
- Master's Degree or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation
