The Vice President/General Manager position is based in Redmond, Washington. This role reports directly to the Northwest Region President.  This position provides strategic direction and development in all aspects of the business including long and short-term profitability goals, market growth, cost management, capital investments, safety, compliance, asset management, and performance management
 
Nature of the Role
The Vice President/General Manager will establish a high performing management team and provide strong, energetic leadership for the materials businesses operating in Washington and Oregon.
  • Full P&L responsibility for the business unit.
  • Create and execute the vision and business strategy for Washington and Oregon states.
  • Establish clear standards and utilize key performance indicators to consistently achieve long term goals and short-term objectives.
  • Identify acquisition or strategic growth opportunities to expand Aggregate and RMC positions
  • Maintain awareness of market conditions and the impact on the business, adjusting strategies and tactics as needed to achieve results. 
  • Manage all aspects of the operation to deliver production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources, while ensuring high ethical, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee commercial management of the business.
  • Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the safety and health performance
  • Develop, coach and manage the area staff.  Responsible for staffing, performance evaluations, and employee development.
  • Participate as an active member of the Northwest Region Senior Leadership team.

Essential Experience and Skills
  • Proven track record of successfully managing all aspects of construction materials businesses.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Established credibility within the construction materials industry with a proven record of commercial success.
  • Strong strategic and business development experience.
  • Strong people and culture manager with a track record of building bench strength, leading leaders, performance management and maximizing the impact of the organization.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit combined with prudence. (i.e. consideration of long-term risks and opportunities).
  • Highly developed organizational influence and negotiation skills.
