TITLE: Vice President of Engineering, Diageo North America

This role will lead the effective utilization of over 1 billion USD in capital investment for implementing the network's future footprint and meeting sustainability commitments.
The VP Engineering role will lead all aspects of optimization of a current asset base exceeding 1.2 billion USD, supporting 12 manufacturing sites. It contributes to our 300 million USD productivity target and manages a team of 16 specialized employees.
Responsibilities Include:
NS ~ 7.0 NS USD
Volume: 65 M cases (including 3rd party and import)
Distilling volume: ~89 M Liters
Responsible for CAPEX budget of 300-500 M annually (>1 billion over 3 years)
300 million dollars in productivity targets
1.2 billion dollars in assets and machinery
Geographic Coverage: 12 sites including distilling, bottling, and maturing (Plainfield, Lincolnway, Aviation, Balcones. Valleyfield, Gimli, Amherstburg, Stitzel Weller, Shellbyville, Tullahoma, Lebanon and US Virgin Islands)
Work across Supply Chain functionally with Conversion, Technical SCP&L leaders to evaluate new technical solutions, support new product introductions, and solve regulatory and customer requirements
.The role leads a team of approximately 16+, and indirectly leads the engineering, teams from all sites.
Ensures project execution is monitored and ran to meet business requirements.
Develops and Tracks CAPEX budget, schedule and results.
Manufacturing Process Optimization:
• Lead initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, using the latest technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall production output.
• Collaborate with process engineering teams to implement continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma.
• Lead Capital projects to Deliver NA Supply transformation across Distillation, Maturation and Conversion.
Technology Adoption:
• Drive an agenda to identify, evaluate, and implement innovative technologies relevant to our industry.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of technological innovation.
Capital Project Management:
• Lead all aspects of the planning, execution, and completion of capital projects related to equipment upgrades, facility expansions, and the integration of new technologies.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting quality and safety standards.
Engineering Standards and Best Practices:
• Establish and implement engineering standards and best in class practices across all manufacturing sites.
• Work closely with site engineering teams to drive consistency and compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
multi-functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate with Research and Development teams to facilitate the flawless transition of new product innovations from concept to production.
• Partner with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to align engineering initiatives with broader business goals.
Talent Development and Management:
• Develop and mentor engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Build highly impactful teams capable of delivering on the company's strategic objectives.
Risk Management:
• Identify and mitigate potential risks related to engineering projects and manufacturing processes.
• Implement robust risk management strategies to safeguard the continuity of operations.
Compliance and Safety Oversight:
• Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental sustainability practices.
Qualifications
• Implement and carry out safety protocols and procedures across engineering operations.
• Bachelors in Mechanical, Industrial, Electric, Chemical engineering or related field (advanced degree preferably)
• 15+ years of experience in a leadership role within engineering, preferably in the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale modernization projects.
• Experience in integrating acquired companies and standardizing processes.
• Strong business savviness and the ability to align engineering strategies with overall business objectives.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
