Work Location:

This is a hybrid position based out of our Atlanta Corporate Office in Sandy Springs, Georgia- Our typical hybrid schedule consists of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

In this role, you’ll be expected to travel approximately 10% to 15% of the time



VP, Corporate Controller:

We are looking for a collaborative and purpose-driven VP, Corporate Controller to lead the strategic direction of our Accounting & Tax organization. In this role you will assume execution and oversight of all accounting, tax, and payroll activities, including general accounting and reporting. You’ll have the opportunity to maintain internal controls and procedures, support financial system ERP integration and use, and prepare internal and external financial reporting.

The VP, Corporate Controller will report to the CFO and will provide ongoing strategic leadership support to drive financial management, operational performance, and future state optimization of the Accounting, Payroll, and Tax organization.

You will also develop and lead an effective and strong team of professionals, making sure our teams maintain compliance with global standards. You’ll manage accounting operations to ensure effective reporting, control of revenues, operating and expenditures.

What you will do:

  • Drive a top talent, and fit-for-purpose service delivery model with processes and technology suitable for the organization
  • Assess current state of the accounting and transactional activities, ensuring an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
  • Identify critical gaps that will need to be addressed to operate efficiently and successfully
  • Direct and lead accounting and transactional teams in the oversight, development and implementation of company-wide accounting policies and controls consistent with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure financial compliance with US GAAP and applicable laws and regulations
  • Oversee the adoption of new accounting principles and explain the impact to executive management
  • Support the CFO in designing the accounting target operating model and aligning to the business needs
  • Champion the organization’s ERP system, including use and efficiency upgrades
  • Operationalize an accounting function capable of handling day-to-day accounting needs while being set up for future acquisitions
  • Provide leadership for accounting process improvement initiatives
  • Support the organization through timely communication, collaboration, relationship building, and delivery of quality work
  • Be the subject matter expert on accounting matters that arise in the business, and provide guidance as needed

Accounting Leadership:

  • Lead all monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial close and reporting processes, ensuring that appropriate standards for quality and efficiency are in place to consolidate financials within close deadlines
  • Own and review monthly and quarterly financial packages, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of retained earnings, and statement of cash flows
  • Maintain appropriate control and governance framework and regulatory requirements including balance sheet reconciliations to ensure GAAP, regulatory and statutory compliance
  • Serve as the principal liaison with the company’s external auditors to ensure smooth annual and quarterly financial statement compliance
  • Communicate pending changes in accounting rules and regulations to senior management which carry financial or operational implications and partner with senior management to resolve them
  • Support the CFO in financial administrative activities and operational procedures including strategic and financial analysis, forecasting, tax planning, cash flow, investments, and asset management
  • Report financial performance to executive leadership, providing insight and recommendations to guide decision making

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develop, recruit, mentor, motivate and strengthen the full life cycle Accounting, Payroll, and Tax teams
  • Display strong leadership and mentoring skills to effectively delegate and develop team members in the accounting department on an ongoing basis
  • Support continued transformation of the team to include effective talent management, succession planning, training, and performance management

  • Strong relationship management skills and the experience of building strong partnerships internally and externally
  • Solid track record of driving results through cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience in accounting and financial management in the commercial and/or residential services industry preferred
  • Previous experience working with private equity backed firms in an accounting leadership capacity preferred
  • Previous experience implementing improved processes and technology utilization
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Experienced in using ERP systems, data & analytics, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll systems
  • ERP consolidation experience preferred
  • Experience partnering in and working with merger and acquisition activities
  • Data and technology savvy and able to drive action through data and insights
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting, tax principles, and financial reporting
  • Strong prioritization skills with the flexibility and adaptability to multi-task and change direction as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree preferred
  • CPA license required
  • 15+ years of relevant accounting experience with hands-on leadership success, including at least 7 years of people management experience
  • Big Four or public accounting experience is preferred
  • Public company experience is preferred
  • Well versed in US GAAP and IFRS accounting, with a significant understanding of technical accounting, accounting practices, and regulations required
  • Proven experience with internal and external GAAP reporting
  • Knowledge of Workday ERP accounting software is a plus
