TITLE: VICE PRESIDENT - CONSUMER LENDING - ANALYTICS AND RISK
STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORT TO: SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT - PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK
DEPARTMENT: ANALYTICS AND RISK

pay scale: $212,300.00 - $235,000.00 annually
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The VP Consumer Lending Analytics/Risk is responsible for the development and direction of risk/return strategy and the ongoing risk management of Golden 1's Consumer Lending programs to meet member financial needs, enable sustainable growth and optimize economic returns.
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Efficiently and effectively manage product risk and provide insight into the development/management of financial products and services that meet members' needs and improve financial health. Ensure the financial safety and soundness of Golden1 through the active management of product guidelines and economic returns to enable sustainable growth.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
  1. Risk Strategy: Develop and direct implementation of origination and portfolio strategies to assess, manage and mitigate risk (credit, fraud, retention, etc.) for Consumer Lending products. Coordinate with Product Management, Operations and Finance teams to develop and implement risk and pricing strategies that deliver appropriate economic returns for Golden 1.
  2. Customer Segmentation: Develop overall customer-based strategy and segmentation across products.
  3. Analytic Framework: Design and manage risk Analytics and reporting to balance risk/return and data-driven decisions for strategic planning. Build out experimental design approaches for learning and ensure Golden 1 data structure supports this direction. Present insights and recommendations to senior management.
  4. Risk Identification: Identify risks to the organization via ongoing reporting and surveillance of key metrics and portfolio trends. Ensure risk metrics and Risk reporting are appropriate and adequate for risk monitoring.
  5. Experience Improvement: Identify opportunities to leverage technology and streamline risk processes, driving automation, efficiency, and improved member experience.
  6. Industry Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in retail risk management, and direct relevant changes to enhance the organization's risk operations.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to retail financial services products. Ensure that product risk is managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Team Leadership: Hire/Manage team to develop best-in-class financial services analytics/risk management capabilities. Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to a team of analytics/risk associates, fostering a collaborative, engaging, and innovative work environment. Promote continual learning, professional growth, and development within the team.
  9. Credit Risk Management Committee: Participate in CRMC to monitor and discuss market conditions and associated impacts on credit and fraud risk as well as the strategic approaches to manage/mitigate risk.
  10. Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to align around business outcomes and foster effective partnerships to deliver defined outcomes.
  11. Represent credit union in contacts with business and trade associations, members, and regulatory agencies. Attend civil functions and otherwise promote the credit union's image.
  12. Plan, organize, direct and control budgetary activity for direct reporting departments.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:
  1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:
  1. INTERNAL: Board of Directions, Management Group, and Staff
  2. EXTERNAL: C.C.U.L., community organizations, vendors, suppliers, and peers in financial institution.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline; masters preferred
  2. EXPERIENCE: Ten years or more of Analytics and Risk management experience with an emphasis on retail lending - origination and portfolio management - across lending products.
  3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated excellence as a strategic thinker who can put plans into action to achieve mutually agreed upon goals in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and managing risk strategies for retail products within financial services during differing macro-economic environments.
  • Strong understanding of the various risks (credit, operational, market, etc.) and management approaches within retail financial products and digital/analog operations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to leverage data and customer insights to inform product, risk, pricing, and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional leaders and teams, vendors, and other credit unions.
  • Ability to effectively synthesize analytic results into concise and impactful business cases with clear recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
    2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
    3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
    5. Extensive travel by car or public conveyance for out-of-area locations or across the United States.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid California driver's license desirable but not essential.
