As a direct report to the UnitedHealthcare Technology CIO you will play a part in helping to shape and support leadership to determine, articulate and execute the go-forward vision, mission, strategy and tactics to drive execution and innovation. This leader will proactively assume responsibility for leading and executing on strategic initiatives, responding to requests and serving as a key contact with stakeholders. You will be accountable for leading operations, portfolio management, workforce management and managing initiatives that will require collaboration across Optum and UnitedHealthcare. This role works collaboratively with leadership positions across the organization to align and synchronize the overarching business initiatives and priorities.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Executive Reporting, Communications

  • Drive the UHC Technology balanced scorecard, making sure we stay on track and aligned to our business strategy
  • Developing and managing monthly/quarterly/annual/ad hoc executive reporting and remediation plans for MBOs/metrics/scorecards with close attention to detail for accuracy and insight
  • Developing, managing and/or delegating the tracking of progress against plans, identifying any deviations and suggestions to remediate
  • Consulting on and preparing executive level presentations (both internal and external)
  • Developing agendas, coordinating logistics and materials distribution for UHC Technology leadership meetings
  • Define business insight outputs from key tools (e.g., IDB, PMO Tools etc.). Analyze and present reports to key stakeholders

Meeting Planning, Facilitation & Follow-Up

  • Oversee the annual planning process including timelines, coordinating execution across stakeholders, driving accountability amongst stakeholders, creating transparency to artifacts generated (e.g., top priorities, product roadmap, vision deck, QBRs, accomplishments, etc.) and helping resolve escalations
  • Establish the calendar and operating cadence for the leadership team by setting our meeting and communication cadence (i.e., Business Reviews, Check-ins, Annual Planning, Finance deliverables)
  • Ensuring the meeting agendas represent the key initiatives and the overall priorities of the business
  • Anticipating, managing preparation for, and when appropriate, facilitating meetings and events
  • Preparing, coordinating, and deciphering resources and materials for critical meetings

Priority Management

  • Managing and drive day to day decisions in support of the UHC Technology priorities and initiatives
  • Managing an efficient operating rhythm for the UHC Technology team week over week to include planning, preparation, content submissions, and action item follow-up
  • Performing program analysis, exercising sound inductive and deductive reasoning to systematically evaluate data, identify variances and understand accountabilities for mitigation and appropriate correction plans
  • Managing recurring projects on varying timelines with the flexibility to take on additional ad hoc work as needed
  • Working closely with Finance, Communications and People Business Partners to ensure a smooth operating rhythm

Collaborative Program & Strategic Planning and Management

  • Work with the enterprise to align processes effectively and efficiently while providing insight into and updates on the performance of our business (roadmap, scorecards etc.) to support UNH (MBRs, QBRs, Earnings Calls)
  • Provide leadership with a framework to review all the strategic projects, define the expected impact on the mission, and then focus on those few key projects that will cause immediate and measurable changes in how the organization functions
  • Assisting leadership in creating alignment and a unified approach across plans and serve as a sounding board where gaps are identified
  • Conducting data analysis designed to guide strategies and be more data-driven about how we approach the market
  • Translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Working collaboratively across segment teams to drive transformation objectives and goals

Technology Operations/Portfolio Management

  • Serve as technology operations, portfolio management and workforce management leader for UHC Technology organization
  • Strategize and ensure alignment to critical operational disciplines including vulnerability remediation, vendor strategy and workforce transformation
  • Understand and manage the balancing of overall segment capital demand and lead to drive capacity priority with the CIO's and their business teams that align to our technology capacity constraints
  • Work with Finance to track and identify cost optimization opportunities and drive execution plans with those teams
  • Enhance planning, execution, and reporting by overseeing the operating cadence, roadmap & capacity continuity, financial management, vendor management and procurement and workforce governance

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • 8+ years of professional experience in strategic planning, transformation, and/or operational leadership
  • Experience successfully translating a vision into results and leading enterprise level strategies
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering professional presentations to both technology and business executives
  • Experienced collaborator with demonstrated success working seamlessly across multiple stakeholders including global
  • Deep understanding of strategy, operations, reporting and forecasting with a demonstrated ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions
  • Ability to quickly understand needs and act on those needs; ability to conceptualize and effectuate change management and "out of the box" thinking
  • Solid communicator; capable of effectively presenting ideas and selling concepts and tactics; excellent writer, proven ability to communicate effectively with executive levels
  • Highly influential, strategic thinker, willing to challenge siloed thinking and drive change at all levels of the organization
  • Self-starter with a track record of driving programs and projects in a matrix environment with demonstrated history of managing complex and scaled initiatives
  • Able to handle highly confidential or sensitive information in a professional, discreet manner
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, related field, or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in IT or Business
  • Experience with a variety of UnitedHealth Group businesses
  • Knowledge of consumer experience
  • Understanding of key financial and business indicators
