POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Volunteer & Recruiting Coordinator supports the Human Resources Department by leading recruitment efforts for all paid and non-paid positions, as well as facilitating the Zoo & Aquarium’s volunteer programs. This position will also assist the Human Resources Department by performing various tasks and serving as a backup, ensuring vital responsibilities may be performed in case of absence.

Leads volunteer programs, including:
  • Overseeing, coordinating, and evaluating volunteer programs.
  • Onboarding and conducting volunteer orientation sessions, under the guidance of the Learning & Development Manager.
  • Supporting volunteers through the full lifecycle of program participation.
  • Establishing and maintaining an annual calendar for short term programs, based upon the needs of the departments and needs of the Zoo & Aquarium.
  • Establishing a target number of volunteers for each program to be met annually.
  • Coordinating volunteer special events and recognition with all departments.
  • Organizing and maintaining all necessary records and systems.
  • Conducting volunteer interviews as needed.

Leads HR recruiting processes, including:
  • Driving the recruitment cycle for all paid and non-paid positions and representing the Zoo & Aquarium at recruitment events.
  • Supporting the Zoo &Aquarium’s Diversity and Inclusion initiatives to attract and retain a diverse workforce and volunteer programs.
  • Partnering with departments to ensure representation within the community.
  • Organizing and maintaining recruiting materials and collateral.

Performs administrative tasks and serves as backup for various HR roles, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
    1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
    1. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
    2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    3. Can represent the company in a professional and positive manner.
    4. Previous volunteer and recruiting management experience desired.
    5. Previous administrative/office experience desired.
    6. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, desired.
  3. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Must have valid driver’s license.
    2. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
    3. Can move equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, with or without assistance. Assistance depending upon task.
    4. Must pass a background and drug screening.
