Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to join our team. Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be comfortable with community outreach. The person will work on a dynamic team of three, helping to build our volunteer pool at HHS. This role will work full time (days) on a hybrid schedule (expectation of working on-site 3 days per week).
Purpose of this position: Responsible for engaging the community as volunteers, including strategic planning, promotion, budget, standards, organization and industry standards, best practices, compliance, and evaluation. Builds and sustains stake holder relations with community partners, staff, volunteers, and volunteer applicants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts and manages targeted and general volunteer recruitment using online subscription services, internet, print, social media, community connections, and presentations to identify individuals and community groups for volunteer consideration, creating appropriate records in Volgistics Database
  • Helps to build and maintain a robust portfolio of volunteers by coordinating and conducting recruitment, interviews, orientation, training, supervision, recognition, and other engagement services as needed. This includes but is not limited to evaluating volunteer position descriptions, individual volunteer performance, volunteer satisfaction, and team member-volunteer partnerships on a regular basis
  • Designs and implements recognition and retention efforts to appreciate, engage, and retain current volunteers and team members who partner with volunteers, including researching, identifying, and applying for appropriate community recognition awards
  • Collaborates with HHF and hospital team members to ensure that opportunities to leverage volunteer time and talent are identified, developed, and matched with appropriate volunteers to advance the needs of the organization and patients. Assures that volunteer/team members partnerships are successful, by maintaining communication and support with all stake holders
  • Oversees the onboarding process of volunteer applicants, including a standard system of screening, training, and evaluation that promotes continuous improvement, compliance with Joint Commission and organizational expectations, and requirements and best practices for health system volunteers. Assures that applicants receive appropriate levels of support and communication to determine appropriateness to the needs of Hennepin Healthcare and that applicants are able to complete the screening process
  • Supports an information-driven decision culture by monitoring internal and external trends through use of data and maintaining communication with all stake holders. Maintains record and data keeping systems according to standards, policies, and best practices of the Volunteer Management Sector, the organization, and Joint Commission. Assists with data collection, analysis, and reporting as needed
  • Contributes to an organizational and work culture that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills and opportunities to effectively engage and maintain the skills, talents, and time of volunteers to support team members and patients and advance the mission of the organization
  • Remains competent and current of industry best practices and trends through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, and attending trainings and/or conference to build network and appropriate skill sets. Maintains membership and active engagement with professional organization(s) in the field of Volunteer Management
  • Participates on and/or lead work teams as requested. This includes but is not limited to data integrity, in-kind donations, team member support, donor/volunteer/community experience, and affinity councils
  • Partners with and assist colleagues in planning, promoting, executing, and evaluating HHF fundraising events and programs as assigned
  • Partners with and assists HHF colleagues in the creation of promotional materials for print, web, and video including donor letters, newsletter articles, certificates, and proposals demonstrating the impact of philanthropy at Hennepin Healthcare, including identifying appropriate volunteer impact stories
  • Works closely with supervisor to manage work plans, priorities, budgets, standards, organization, and industry policies, compliance, evaluation and communication strategies. Tracks and monitors data, course correcting as needed to meet annual development goals and performance metrics
  • Supervises volunteers and interns in accordance with Hennepin Healthcare leader standards and industry best practices
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Volunteer Services Program, HHF, and HH by assuming primary responsibility for special projects as assigned and performing all other duties and responsibilities in a timely, thorough, and professional manner
  • Adheres to the professional standards and conduct of the Volunteer Management industry
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years successful experience using a combination of skills that may include: donor relations, fundraising, portfolio management, event planning, HR, recruiting, writing/journalism, volunteer management and community relations

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Volgistics Software, Adobe, and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, engage, and retain volunteer partnerships
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and processes
  • Computer data entry
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong customer service skills
