The Omaha Conservatory of Music is accepting applications for full-time Voice Artist-Faculty in the Mix Department to begin in Summer 2024.
The department teaches courses to over 125 students with a focus on customizing the learning experience for students with varying levels of goals and abilities. Students vary in skill level from beginning to advanced, with 10% of our students being adult learners.
The salary range for this role is $38,000 - $55,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities and details:
A Voice Artist-Faculty is a dynamic educator who supports students’ music education path utilizing current musical pedagogy and innovative educational tactics and tools. Must be excited to work with students across a wide range of ages and levels, including very young learners (ages 3-8), in individual and group settings. This includes:
- Regularly developing and implementing fresh educational initiatives for the studio or classroom
- Innovative practice methods
- Motivational charts and challenges
- Routines for establishing good technique
- New music (underrepresented composers, diverse styles, or duets, etc.)
- Fresh ways to incorporate music theory and/or history
- Fostering a positive learning environment
- Establishing a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion
- Providing expert music instruction, including demonstrating a high level of mastery and modeling this in lessons
- Participating in teaching classes within the department as identified by OCoM
- Managing a studio, including lesson planning, scheduling, paperwork, phone calls, and communication
- Participation in the work of the department, including attending faculty meetings
- Duties as assigned
A successful candidate will teach primarily individual lessons with the option of including class teaching, totaling 20 hours of teaching per week, and work Sunday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Saturday. Specific classes will be determined based on departmental needs and the successful candidate’s specialty. The department welcomes applicants whose work focuses on specific areas, including, but not limited to: working with young voices and musical theater.
Artist-Faculty report to the program department, and are supported by the OCoM artistic director, program director, and department chair who conduct observations, provide ongoing mentorship, and collaborate on goal setting. Artist-Faculty is also responsible for collaborating with the programming team managers to ensure all teaching and administrative duties are executed at the highest level. Program managers collaborate with the Department Chair on performance reviews of Artist-Faculty.
This position is comprised of:
70% teaching
10% service
10% administration
10% musicianship
In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in department meetings, hold regular office hours, and be available to meet with staff as needed.

**Note: This position will follow the Omaha Conservatory calendar, highlighting 40 lessons. A salary for completed work will be distributed over the full 12-month calendar year. Additional paid opportunities for summer work may be available.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates should have one of the following: a bachelor's degree in vocal performance, music education, or vocal pedagogy before starting employment
- Demonstrated success in related levels of teaching
- Two years of teaching experience
- Class teaching experience
- Strong record of working collaboratively
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Successful experience teaching in classroom settings (technique classes, repertoire classes, traditional school setting, etc.)
- Teaching experience with young children
- Fluency in Spanish
- Experience in musical theater

Work Environment
