Job Purpose

This position provides leadership and assumes administrative responsibility for Northpointe’s Vocational and Daytime Activity Services Programs and contracts in accordance with Michigan Mental Health Code, Medicaid Provider Manual, and contractual obligations with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This includes the following program areas: Skill building, Supported/Integrated/Transitional Employment, Clubhouse, and any other contracted vocational or skill building services.

This position provides services trainings to Clinical and paraprofessional employees, assists with development of and maintenance of daytime activities services, and is the community liaison for all Vocational Services. In addition, this position is a fundamental advocate for community inclusion for all service recipients.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Coordinates Northpointe’s Daytime Activity Services:
  • Participates in related to workgroups locally, regionally, and at the state level as needed as assigned by Chief Clinical Officer within the primary area of responsibility.
  • Acts as the supervisor during core business hours; schedules and participates in supervisory duties to all employees.
  • Implements program structure developed with the Chief Clinical Officer including strategies, objectives, priorities, division of work, accountabilities, and communications systems for staff.
  • Acts as a liaison for contract entities providing any daytime activity services.
  • Provides clinical trainings to applicable employees and community partners:
  • Initial training for applicable clinical employees and new employees
  • Provides additional training regarding any changes or identified areas of improvement.
  • Offers additional daytime activities service training to other employees as needed.
  • Provides training to community partners related to skill building, supported/integrated employment, Clubhouse, etc. services.
  • Leadership of the designated employees:
  • Clinical supervision and mentoring
  • Monitoring performance and providing coaching/counseling/disciplinary action as necessary
  • Conduct performance appraisals and assist employees in goal development
  • Assist in providing professional development opportunities
  • Ensures services and service provisions occur as identified in the Medicaid Provider Manual, the Mental Health Code, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors service effectiveness and costs:
  • Collects and prepares data to meet regulatory requirements and to assess quality
  • Provides data for review by Quality Committee and Utilization Management Committee
  • Promotes positive program results by introducing positive behavioral practices, presenting action plans
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • This position will actively support the mission, vision, and values of the agency.
  • Must meet provider qualifications set in the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual.

Education, Certifications, and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, registered nurse, or health services from an accredited college/university.
  • Michigan license preferred but not required.
  • Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker or Licensed Master’s Social Work
  • Licensed Registered Nurse or Social Service Technician
  • Must meet requirements to be privileged as a QMHP, QIDP and CMHP.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing services in a community mental health setting.
  • Leadership experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be knowledgeable and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Medicaid Provider Manual, and Michigan Mental Health Code required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical requirements and regulatory requirements applicable to the agency.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team and the ability to work autonomously when necessary.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic health record.
  • Ability to present information and to train a varied audience which may include employees, contract providers, and community members.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify areas of opportunity and to organize data into meaningful formats such as reports, graphs, etc.
  • Ability to participate in grant writing, research, etc., as necessary to assist in program development.
  • Ability to research best practice, guidelines, and mandated requirements.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate team efforts to achieve goals of the agency.
  • Ability to work with general mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to travel as required by this job as it oversees operations Tri-County.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer software necessary to perform job functions and ability to autonomously utilize portable electronic devices (cell phone, laptop/tablet, etc.) including equipment for telehealth services.

  • Demonstrates understanding of CMH funding and utilization of general fund in relation to services.
  • Demonstrates the ability to review departmental costs and implement changes when necessary to minimize waste.
  • Demonstrates strong team skills and the ability to work effectively as part of different group projects.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of sound judgement, self-sufficiency, and initiative.
  • Demonstrates ability to solve complex, multi-disciplinary problems in a graceful and sensitive manner.

Required Training

Training requirements established by licensing agencies, accreditation bodies, MDHHS, and NorthCare Network shall be followed upon hire, annually, and as necessary.
