Position Overview:
As a VMware/Windows Server Administrator at Berry Solutions Group, you will be a key member of our IT support team, responsible for managing and maintaining our clients' virtualization and Windows server environments. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our clients' critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- VMware Administration:
- Deploy, configure, and manage VMware virtualization infrastructure for clients.
- Create and maintain virtual machines, templates, and snapshots.
- Monitor and optimize the performance and resource allocation of virtualized environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve VMware-related issues promptly.
- Windows Server Administration:
- Install, configure, and manage Windows Server operating systems for clients.
- Maintain and administer Active Directory, including user and group management, group policies, and security settings.
- Monitor server health and ensure the availability of essential services.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for Windows Servers.
- Client Support:
- Provide remote and on-site support for clients, addressing IT issues and ensuring high availability of their systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their IT needs and offer solutions.
- Proactively identify opportunities for IT improvements within client organizations.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement security measures and best practices to protect client environments.
- Assist clients in compliance efforts and audits related to their IT infrastructure.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of client system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and security.
- Create playbooks and statements of work for client solutions.
- Time Management:
- Accurately document daily time entries in weekly timesheets.
- Effectively work with various client environments.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working for an IT Managed Service Provider.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or 10+ years of equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a VMware/Windows Server Administrator, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Strong expertise in Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS systems, storage management, and backup solutions.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
- A commitment to staying updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Strong ability to create clear and accurate client documentation.
- Willingness to assist other team members when necessary.
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Experience in administering Linux or Unix.
- Familiarity with alternative hypervisors such as Hyper-V and KVM.
- Strong understanding of networking and security.
- Knowledge of ConnectWise Manage and ConnectWise Automate.
- Understanding of AWS and Azure Cloud Services.
- Ability to program or create shell scripts.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Familiarity with ITIL methodologies, particularly with respect to ITSM solutions and Change Management.
