Retina-Vitreous Surgeons of Central New York is a regional physician owned retina practice with eight fellowship-trained physicians. Several partners are scaling back or nearing retirement age. We are currently seeking a ninth highly skilled and motivated BE/BC vitreo-retinal surgeon for a position leading to full and equal partnership.
The practice offers an opportunity for immediate and sustained medical and surgical volume because of steady growth over more than 50 years.
This is the major retina referral center for all of Central New York, covering a vast geographic area -- stretching from Binghamton in the South all the way up into Canada – with a network of several hundred referring ophthalmologists and optometrists. Therefore, the practice sees a very high surgical volume with tremendous pathology. The physicians also run the retina service at SUNY Upstate and the Syracuse VA. Such academic affiliations facilitate active involvement in resident and medical student education. The practice diagnoses and treats the full gamut of retinal diseases from rhegmatogenous retinal detachments and vein occlusions to severe ocular trauma.
Call is shared equally by the physicians, as is time spent at the several satellite offices. Surgery is performed at a state-of-the-art ASC as well as a community hospital with both Alcon and DORC vitrectomy units. There is ample opportunity for participating in research through multiple phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials.
Modern diagnostic services (SS-OCT, OCT-A, UWF-Imaging, FP, FA, ICG, B-scan, etc.) are offered at our main office location in Syracuse as well as satellites. A highly experienced staff includes scribes, triage RN, certified ophthalmic photographers, and research study coordinators.
