The Visual Designer has a strong knowledge of digital and print design formats.
This position works cross functionally with curriculum design and development, UX, operations and project leaders to create effective, cohesive visual design solutions that meet the needs of varied users and learners. This position collaborates with internal business partners to ensure that the designs support business strategies and objectives and promote the K12 brand.

This position works cross functionally with curriculum design and development, UX, operations and project leaders to create effective, cohesive visual design solutions that meet the needs of varied users and learners. This position collaborates with internal business partners to ensure that the designs support business strategies and objectives and promote the K12 brand.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
  • Conceives and executes visual design solutions that support the K12 brand, curriculum and business objectives in online and print components;
  • Provides status of visual design progress to design leads, creative managers and project management;
  • Analyses storyboards and design tasks, and creates design assets (print and digital) based on design style guides and art direction provided by design leads, creative director and other senior leaders;
  • Proficiently creates illustrations and multimedia (print and digital assets) from written storyboards provided by curriculum architects and cross-functional partners in a manner that addresses our design standards holistically;
  • Basic knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript to support the development of web components;
  • Builds creative, responsive, multimedia components that adhere to and further refine our design practices;
  • Strong print layout and visual hierarchy experience;
  • Prioritizes work across multiple projects in an efficient manner;
  • Collaborates and contributes to design discussion across teams in order to bring creative solutions with consistency across our product line;
  • Applies visual design templates and guidelines;
  • Applies knowledge and training of the K12 print standards, guidelines, maintenance and file management/preparation as it relates to online courses;
  • Adheres and efficiently follows K12 production workflows and processes and is capable of communicating clearly with vendors, cross functional teammates, and completing projects on time based on development priorities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or related field of study;
  • 3-5 years of experience in visual design, graphic design, web design, mobile design, animation, and/or product development OR;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses: None required.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent concept and design skills with demonstrated ability to take provided design concepts and/or text and represent it visually
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize and complete high volumes of work under tight deadlines
  • Motivated self-starterthat shows initiative
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work through design and technical problems
  • Versatile design aesthetic reflecting an understanding of style as it relates to audience and content
  • High degree of visual organization
  • Experience in eBook creation and accessibility standards in print and online offerings
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate visual design concepts to non-designers
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency
  • Good working knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Ability to pass required background check

  • This is a home-based position that requires an environment that allows you to meet and communicate daily via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
  • Stable, high-speed internet that can deliver quality audio and video is essential to performing daily responsibilities in this position.
  • Accommodate and work within standard business hours of 8:30am - 5:30pm EST
  • Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • We anticipate the salary range to be $51,044.25 to $81,671.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
