Hours: Sunday 8:00-1:00 (REQUIRED), Thursdays 8:00-1:00; Additional days dependent upon need and candidate availability

About Coastal Roots Farm:
Coastal Roots Farm (CRF) is a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center. We cultivate healthy, connected communities by integrating sustainable agriculture, food justice, and ancient Jewish wisdom.
We share organic produce with those who need it most and connect people to compelling Jewish ideas and traditions through farming and food. We distribute food through our on-site pay-what-you-can Farm Stand, pop up mobile farm stands, and donations to hunger relief organizations. We offer hands-on education and experiences through School and Group Visits, Farm Camp Farm Tours, Volunteer Opportunities, Jewish Agricultural Festivals, and other community events, inviting our neighbors to connect to the land, Jewish tradition, and each other.
Coastal Roots Farm is located in Encinitas, CA on approximately 17 acres of land which we recognize as indigenous to the Kumeyaay and Luiseño peoples. Our Farm consists of vegetable production fields, education farm and gardens, a food forest, chickens, and compost operations. Coastal Roots Farm was incubated by the Leichtag Foundation in 2014 and received 501(c)(3) public charity status in 2015.
Position Overview:
The Visitor Experience Associate will support Coastal Roots Farm's Education Department with public-facing programs and events. This position is responsible for providing a safe, clean, fun, and educational experience to all Farm visitors. This position supports the arrival and guidance of all visitors to Coastal Roots Farm as well as support to the education department in implementing public Farm experiences.
The Visitor Experience Associate ensures that all Farm visitors can safely orient themselves on the Farm and can enjoy a positive experience exploring nature.
During the peak summer season, the Visitor Experience Associate may be eligible for extended hours to support the Education Department endeavors including Seasonal Farm Camps and Special Events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service :

• Provide positive, friendly, and solutions-oriented customer service to visitors in a professional and efficient manner.
• Introduce new and return visitors to the Farm.
• Answer questions from visitors positively and in a timely fashion.
• Demonstrate professional respect to all staff, volunteers, interns, visitors, partners, and affiliates; build relationships, promote repeat visitation.
• Monitor and reinforce safety expectations for visitors.

Administrative Duties :

• Utilize Square for point of sale, data entry, and other relevant financial exchanges.
• Promote and sell Farm programs and events including Seasonal and After-School Farm Camps, Birthday Parties on the Farm, School and Group Visits, Jewish Agricultural events, and more as relevant.
• Ensure merchandise areas are clean, stocked, and organized.
• Responsibly handle cash and other forms of payment in a secure, orderly, and efficient manner.

Additional Responsibilities :

• Support the education and marketing departments with programs and events for people of all ages and backgrounds:
• Programs may include, Jewish agricultural festivals, seasonal camps, private events.
• Support the Farm Education Department with additional necessary tasks including;
• Organization and maintenance of Farm education spaces including Education Farm and Garden, Nature Play and Environmental Learning Space, and Farm-STEM Science Lab.
• Preparation of educational materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:

• Excellent communication, computer, sales, cash handling, and time management skills.
• An interest in working with children, families, and the community.
• Attention to detail.
• Enthusiasm for working in a high energy team environment.
• Experience working in customer service and/or retail (preferred).

Compensation
$15.50-$17 per hour depending on experience.
Typical Working Conditions
The Visitor Experience Associate will work mostly outdoors and occasionally in the office. There will be exposure to Southern California outside temperatures, chemicals used in the agricultural industry, and loud noises.
Essential Physical Tasks
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs., cutting, and carrying. Able to walk a minimum of .5 miles on uneven narrow trails with elevation gain.
