Meta is seeking a Visiting Researcher through a short-term contract to join Meta AI. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, audio and speech processing, natural language processing, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and computational statistics.About Reality Labs Research: Reality Labs Research brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers to build the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality. We're developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets. We aspire to a vision of social VR and AR, where people are able to interact with each other across distances in a way that is indistinguishable from in-person interactions.This position is short-term employment for PhD students during the academic school year who will work in collaboration with Meta and Carnegie Mellon University and requires the student to work onsite in the Meta office. The position will be full time during CMU's summer break in 2025. The program will start in Fall 2024.
- Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent systems.
- Perform research that improves computational understanding and representation of data.
- Devise data-driven models of human behavior.
- Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
- Collaborate and increase productivity on existing research projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
- Knowledge in Machine Learning.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.
- Research and software engineer experience demonstrated via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
- Knowledge in Python, Lua, C++, C, C# and/or Java.
