Job description

The Department of Geology and Geography at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer to teach in our Geology major beginning July 1, 2024. The position is for 1 year and will include course instruction at the introductory, intermediate, and/or advanced level. The teaching load is 3/2.

The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in the areas of Geology, Earth, and Climate Science as well laboratory and seminar courses in their area of specialization. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to undergraduate education who have demonstrated experience mentoring highly motivated students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. A Ph.D. or ABD is required.
Candidates will be required to submit three statements concerning (1) teaching philosophy, (2) research interests, and (3) a statement about mentoring a diverse student body. Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of reference submitted on their behalf. Please contact Chair of Geology and Geography, Jared Schwartzer at jjschwar@mtholyoke.edu with any questions.
The Geology and Geography department maintains an interdisciplinary and collaborative collection of faculty who engage in rich and innovative scholarship.
