Acenda's part-time Supervised Visitation position allows for job flexibility and to make a difference in the lives of children and families and the community.
You'd be joining a team of counselors providing visits for parents and their children to help support and stabilize families involved with Cape May County DCP&P where the children are at risk of abuse or neglect.
What you'll do as a Visitation Counselor
- Help maintain the parent-child bond by providing visits for children and their parents
- Coordinate visits between parents and the child's caregiver and transport children to and from visits
- Provide visit planning, coaching techniques and debriefing; helping to improve parenting skills and interactions so reunification or permanency can occur
- Facilitate meaningful visits; helping parents meet the physical, emotional and developmental needs of their children
- Ensure the safety of children and model appropriate interactions between parents and children
- Help stabilize families who reunify during our intervention
- Work collaboratively with peers, DCP&P and other community providers
- Assist parents with concrete needs and link to resources that can assist with reunification goal
- Complete documentation consistent with program and agency requirements.

What you'll contribute as a Visitation Counselor
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology or social work
- Strong engaging, communication and collaboration skills
- Professionalism, ethics and a commitment to excellence in care
- Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, reliability and the ability to work well independently
- Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment
- Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record
