The Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) works in an office setting within the hospital. The VRN plans and provides professional nursing services and standards of practice in accordance with level of experience and education, state board of nursing and established policies and procedures. The VRN integrates the art, science, leadership and knowledge of the nursing clinical practice through relationship-centered, compassionate, ethical and respectful indirect care.
Professional Nursing Practice: Continues to evolve with evidence-based practice discoveries. Provides leadership and retains accountability for delegation, choices, decisions and outcomes. Collaborates with key stakeholders and contributes to quality and improvement practices and outcomes. Exhibits agility and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities. Embraces new ideas and cultural differences while managing competing priorities.
Professional Development: Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, licenses and certifications, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Supports the learning and development of others.
Compassion, Communication, & Stewardship: Incorporates caring process (Caritas**), advocacy and appropriate resource utilization as an essential component of nursing practice through concrete acts, interpersonal relationships and effective and respectful written, verbal and nonverbal communications.
Environment of Care: Practices in an environmentally safe, professional and health manner, monitors and initiates corrections of evidence-based practices, including those for equipment and material resources. Promotes optimum physical and psychological behaviors. Influences effective, judicious and financially responsible use of resources.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited professional school of nursing.
- Licensure: Valid RN licensure authorized in the applicable state(s) of practice/employment.
- Preference: Baccalaureate Decree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. Specialty credentialing and educational degree according to clinical nursing practice specialty area.
- Experience: Minimum ten years of experience in clinical nursing/health condition management. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
