JOB GOAL: Under general supervision, performs various technical and clerical tasks in assisting a teacher. Employees may perform a wide range of functions to support the efforts of the lead teacher, meet the needs of all students, and ensure the provision of quality instruction for all students. Employee provides one-on-one assistance with academics and behavioral problems and may lead small group activities. Employee assists lead teacher with general housekeeping and clerical duties.
SALARY: Starting at $16.65 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Facilitates the Virtual Lab for students who are taking asynchronous courses via Apex or NCVPS.
  2. Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students; monitors student attitudes and encourages self-esteem; assist students with becoming increasingly independent.
  3. Monitors student behavior and helps maintain discipline in the Virtual Lab.
  4. Assists students with learning; reinforces and clarifies instructions; provides one-on-one assistance.
  5. Assists with maintaining standardized records and documentation concerning students' progress.
  6. Maintains an orderly classroom and report violations of the Code of Conduct, Character, and Support to administration.
  7. Performs various clerical duties as needed; maintains records of student progress; develops and files incident reports; grades student papers and scores test; checks daily attendance; make copies.
  8. Develops classroom display and instructional materials; maintains and operates audiovisual equipment; orders supplies; supports, class files, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Physical Requirements: Must be able to use various equipment and classroom tools, such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, etc. Must exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Due to the time spent standing and walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for light work.
  2. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from apparent standards) of data, people or things.
  3. Interpersonal Communication: The ability to speak and signal people to convey or exchange information, which includes receiving instructions, assignments, and directions from superior.
  4. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, simple words, documents, instructional materials, etc., using prescribed format.
  5. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  6. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.
  7. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, add and subtract; and use decimals and percentages. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  1. General knowledge of activities performed by a Virtual Lab Facilitator.
  2. General knowledge of daily routines of the classroom.
  3. General knowledge of student handbook rules.
  4. General knowledge of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.
  5. General knowledge of the principles of organization and administration.
  6. Some knowledge of the curriculum for the grade.
  7. Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when student is participating in an inclusive activity.
  8. Ability to motivate students.
  9. Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment. Ability to perform general clerical duties.
  10. Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom. Ability to operate common office machines.
  11. Ability to maintain basic files and records
  12. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year. Salary in accordance with certification and placement on the adopted schedule.
