Position: Video Tech Intern
Summary: As a Video Technician intern at Gateway Studios, you will play an important part in our day-to-day operations. Working mostly in a shop setting, you will learn and experience how operations are conducted for the preparation and production of live events. You will work with some of the top professionals in the field and, by doing so, will acquire a plethora of knowledge about the trade. You will learn and perform various kinds of skills, such as building cameras, preparing camera kits, cleaning and inspecting cameras and LED walls, etc. You will be assigned a designated mentor(s) who will guide you throughout the semester, providing you with training, feedback, encouragement, and support.
Learning Objective/Job Responsibilities:
1. Orientation of Multi-Camera System:
- Be introduced to a multi-camera system.
- Develop skills in operating a multi-camera system.
- Learn the purpose of a multi-camera system.
- Learn all the different camera types and configurations, such as FOH, HH, Gib, Robo, Steady cam, rail cams, etc.
2. Clean and Inspect Cameras:
- Learn how to properly clean a camera body.
- Learn the basic protocols for inspecting and servicing cameras.
- Assist Video Technicians in cleaning and inspecting various types of cameras.
3. Build Cameras:
- Develop skills in building cameras.
- Assist Video Technicians in the process of building cameras.
- Learn how to operate different types of tripods, such as heavy duty tripods, HH tripods, gib, steady cam, rail cam, etc.
- Gain knowledge about different kinds of camera lenses and how to use them effectively.
4. Prepare Various Camera Kits:
- Learn how to properly prepare and package camera kits.
- Assist Video Technicians in the preparation of various camera kits for upcoming shows.
5. Projection Screens Build Up:
- Be introduced to projection surfaces, such as FP & RP.
- Develop adequate skills in building projection screens.
- Learn how to properly clean projection screens.
- Assist Video Technicians in building and maintaining projection screens.
- Help Video Technicians hang and mount projection screens.
6. Clean and Test LED Walls:
- Be Introduced to LED screens (walls).
- Learn how to clean LED screens in such a way that follows department guidelines.
- Learn how to test LED screens, ensuring that they’re working properly for upcoming events.
- Assist Video Technicians with the operation and maintenance of LED screens.
7. Attendance:
- Attendance is an essential requirement for this position.
8. Any and all other duties:

Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- University student pursuing a degree in a related field.
Experience:
- Attending classes that are relevant to the internship.
- Experience with video operations for live events.
- Experience working in live events.
Skills / Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of equipment and industry terminology.
- Willingness to learn and ability to follow direction.
- Aptitude for grasping technical skills.
- Great attitude and open-mindednes.
Course Prerequisites:
- N/A - But must have a keen interest in learning about the field.
